About
Reflections from Japan's Buddhist Traditions
What is hasunoha?
hasunoha is an online platform where Buddhist monks from various Japanese traditions respond to "life's questions" with compassion and clarity.
From Zen to Pure Land, Nichiren to Shingon — dialogues that touch the heart.
We believe that the wisdom of Buddhist practitioners can offer solace and insight across cultures, helping people reflect on the human condition, daily challenges, and deeper questions of meaning.
How it works
At present, you can freely explore a growing library of published questions and answers from Japanese Buddhist monks. While we currently do not offer question submission or interactive features in the English version, our mission is to enrich your life through Buddhist wisdom from Japan.
We hope to expand features in the future to offer more ways to engage.
Participating Traditions & Monks
Our responding monks represent a diverse range of Japanese Buddhist schools — including Zen (Soto, Rinzai), Pure Land (Jodo, Jodo Shinshu), Nichiren, Shingon, and others — each contributing their unique perspective while sharing in the broader Buddhist wisdom.
To date, 412 monks have contributed to hasunoha, sharing answers, teachings, and reflections.
