Effects of reciting the Heart Sutra

Thank you for asking a question the other day and for your kind advice.

Now, as for the question, I've been told by my acquaintances for a long time that reciting the Heart Sutra has a positive effect not only on me, but also on those around me, my family, etc., so I recite it every day before going to bed.

I was told that it was OK to sing regardless of denomination.

I wanted to ask you a question about the effects of reciting the Heart Sutra.

Expanding the relationship between Buddhism

It's the effect of reciting the Heart Sutra. It probably depends on the denomination and the way of thinking of each monk

Disease-free health, family safety, prosperous business, longevity, safe delivery, etc.

That's probably not what we'd expect. Sutras aren't spells, are they? If there is a benefit of making such desires come true just by chanting, then all the monks must be transcendently happy and outraged.

The Buddha's teachings are explained in the sutras. So is the Heart Sutra. I'm moved by the wonderful teaching of the famous “color is the sky, the sky is color.”

So by chanting it, you, your family, and everyone around you will know the Heart Sutra. Even if you don't understand its meaning, you know it exists. I can remember it by ear.
The fact that I learned about it may unexpectedly blossom as a sign of seeking Buddhism.

When you are overwhelmed by your worries and suffering, what kind of teachings are explained in the Heart Sutra? It may be an opportunity to seek Buddhism.

There is no doubt that Buddha's teachings are explained there, and they will help save everyone from suffering.

Sorry if that wasn't the answer you expected.

However, I think there is a relaxing effect of reciting sutras at a constant rhythm. Habits may also have the effect of bringing sharpness to life.
I think that's the effect of simply chanting.

It's even better if you know the meaning

There are various explanations and translations on the internet and in books.
It's even better to know what that means.
I'll introduce one of them.

It's easy to understand, isn't it?

Just sing it with all your heart.

Hello Machi-san.
It's a mistake to say it in anticipation of an effect!
It's just a matter of chanting with all your heart.
It's washing the mind.
Changes will come from within you.
In my case, we got better at meetings.

About the true meaning of the Heart Sutra

Machi-sama

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

The Heart Sutra is a teaching for treating ignorance (fundamental ignorance), which is the cause of our hesitation and suffering, as the “core sutra of supreme wisdom.”

Therefore, it is more important than anything else to not just chant, but to have a firm understanding of the meaning and content, and then make practical use of it.

As for the true meaning explained in the Heart Sutra, I have dealt with it even though it was exaggerating in the following humble remarks, so I would be grateful if you could refer to it for a moment.

“On the 'sky' in the Heart Sutra”

“... It is important to understand the contents of the sutras that are taught by the Buddha and make use of them as practice to move towards enlightenment. Similarly, in the “Heart Sutra,” you must not only recite the sutras and simply copy the sutras, but also understand the content of that “profound wisdom in the sky” and use it for the practice of living and Buddhism. ・・”

Let's work hard together.
