Did I kill him

When I was working at a pharmacy, there was a dog wandering round and round in the parking lot of the neighboring supermarket

No matter how you look at it, it's a stray dog.
What's more, I don't know if it was an accident or if they were abused
It is called crouching in a few steps, then standing up again and crouching
It was action.
As a pharmacy worker, I contacted the public health center for protection from the thought that small children and the elderly have weak immunity

I love dogs so much that they call them idiots
Can't I take in that dog somehow?
Think about something you can do now...
Observe the dog's condition and see how it moves that seem too painful
I contacted the public health center thinking about euthanasia

I also just became a foster parent for a dog, so I couldn't afford it

After the public health center staff went home
who called you
Ahhh, I heard a voice saying they were going to be killed
There were also people who repeatedly called sorry sorry

I was back then, so are you going to be the owner!
I felt like I wanted to eat it, but I couldn't

It happened seven years ago
Even now, was that decision good?
If I hadn't contacted the public health center, would someone have protected me and lived a happy life?

I wonder if I hastened that dog's death...
I've been fidgety the whole time

I recently learned about this site
At last, I thought we could talk.

It doesn't matter if it's a harsh word
On my own, I can't see anything, so I'm going around in style.

Be thankful for your sorrow and put your hands together

They continued to worry about things from 7 years ago, and they finally arrived at a place called hasunoha where you can ask questions. I think I can answer from various monks.

As for that dog, it may have died early due to Sakuyu's contact.
No, maybe I was able to feel better quickly.
Maybe someone protected them and made them happy.
However, they may have been saved from facing an even worse situation.
Maybe it's unavoidable to talk about “what if,” but it still makes me think about it.

There is a saying like this in the sayings “Shoisho” by Shinran Shonin, the founder of the Jodo Shinshu sect.
“(Summary) Even if you want to help them by waking up a sense of mercy, it's impossible to save everything the way you want. The sense of mercy we humans can have is imperfect.”

We are stealing our “lives” by eating every day.
Also, in the shadow of the development of drugs and cosmetics, many animals have been used in experiments and lost their lives.
There are also people who are facing a difficult situation somewhere in the world due to the influence of developed countries living rich and convenient lives.

I am aware that life is built on the sacrifices of other lives, I feel sad and grateful for it, and I think the only thing we can do is put our hands together.

<Postscript for getting thanks>
Sakuyu-sama
There is “just a little bit of calm” in words of thanks, and I am happy that I was able to help with little effort.
Also, I received your kind words of appreciation, and I was encouraged and moved.
I would like to thank you very much.

<Additional notes in a few months>
It is said that they stopped dreaming about “that dog.” Also, I felt grateful and began to wonder if they had come to tell me something.

In Buddhism, a master is called “good knowledge.”
Also, the same goes for events that have come to my attention.
I thought dogs must have been Sakuyu's good knowledge.

Reminiscence

Sakuyu-san.

Thank you so much for letting me hear it.
You've always thought about it in your heart, haven't you?

There may also have been parts where you felt like blaming yourself or were at a loss in deciding whether what you did was right.
However, as Master Uragami says, the answer to what made you happy does not consist of a single answer like arithmetic.

Your heart may have been broken by the public health center staff's voices saying “who called you” or “sorry,” but I don't feel like that is the case when it comes to whether those people are still thinking about that dog even now, 7 years later.

Everyday life is often forgotten due to ephemeral events, but Sakuyu was the only one who was there who kept thinking about that dog whose name he didn't even know until now.
I think that is precious.

I wouldn't have known about that dog if Sakuyu hadn't told me about it here due to Hasunoha's relationship.
Sakuyu taught me, and while thinking about that dog in one corner, I am also involved in my daily legal affairs.

If I were to say something to my 7-year-old self now, I would say, “I was able to keep thinking about a nameless dog that would normally be forgotten for 7 years. Furthermore, I was able to have Buddhist relationships with monks who are related to dogs. It was hard back then, but now I'm grateful.”
Please keep that part in a corner of your heart.

Don't blame yourself too much.

I appreciate your partnership here.

Plant, tree, animal, and animal Sagan memorial service

Sakuyu-sama

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is a humble answer to the question.

At Tsuetsuji Temple, we have been holding a memorial service for the animal memorial service at the public health center every year for about 40 years now.

I first visited Jusei about 13 years ago, and when I saw housed dogs and cats crying and shaking in their cages, it made me think again about human arrogance...

People at public health centers are also making various efforts to search for owners and raise awareness about improving manners, and although the number of people housed has decreased considerably year by year, unfortunately, there is still no end to animals that are euthanized...

The people at the public health center were also at that harsh scene, and how they felt when they saw off the animals... it hurt my heart just thinking... while also receiving quite severe criticism that “it's animal abuse, animal slander” and “that place is Auschwitz”...

Somehow, along with a memorial service for animals, we sincerely hold a memorial service every year to see if the feelings of the people at the public health center cannot be healed even with little effort.

As Mr. Tetsuya Urakami said, we are able to live our lives by receiving various “lives” every day. There is discrimination against that, and I don't think it should mean that animals should only love their own pets. Everyone is living to the fullest in this lucky world. If you can give even a little thought to them themselves, take good care of them, and respond with remorse; for example, think about the natural environment even a little bit, keep protection and ecology in mind, or if there are creatures that are in trouble because they suddenly drown in water, gently help them, or walk with concern about the ground so they don't step on the creatures to death, etc., if you can be kind, I think we can also cultivate a sense of compassion.

This time, I would like to express my thoughts to that stray dog in front of the Plant, Tree, and Animal Sagan Memorial Tower at Tsuketsu Temple, and I would like to offer a memorial service every day.

From now on, I know that by treating animals with even just a little bit of compassion every day, I hope they can pray that stray dogs can also go to a clean area as a memorial and memorial service for stray dogs.

Kawaguchi Hidetoshi Gassho

Sakuyu-sama.

I hope this problem, which has stayed in your mind for a long time, can be resolved peacefully by posting to hasunoha here.

Words from other people that bound your heart... “Voices like 'who called you' or 'sorry' after the public health center staff returned home...
However, please take that as an irresponsible joke. The nonsense of people who can't take responsibility and...

There is no way you can be blamed by others, etc., and I think it would be nice if you thought that you helped that dog to end his peaceful life.

The answers from each teacher who answered earlier have also been read, so please stay at ease.
