I want to do work related to temples

I want to do work that involves temples.

I've loved temples ever since I was in middle school. I was often amazed by slightly strange children who begged their parents to visit a temple rather than a certain famous park.

When I went on to college, I chose a university in Nara prefecture because I wanted to live close to my favorite temple, and spent my time visiting various temples while majoring in Japanese history and Japanese art.

When I got a job, I vaguely thought that I wanted to do a job involving a temple, but I didn't do any detailed research, so I went to my current job in search of a sense of stability in my life.

A few years have passed since I worked, and when I thought about my future life, I still couldn't give up the feeling that I wanted to do a job involving a temple.

From the perspective of a temple, do you think of any occupation that a person like me can do?

But, as rude, I like academic interests rather than religious beliefs, and it's not that I'm strong against any particular denomination or temple. So, if possible, my ideal job would be to involve multiple temples.

Wouldn't it be a good idea to look for it?

Wouldn't it be possible to work as a clerk at a large temple?
I think there are plenty of temples like mine that don't have enough hands but no money, so if you feel like that, there are plenty of jobs.

There may also be cleaning and customer service counters, etc., and there may also be shukubo, etc.

I think it would be a good idea to look for it.

How about a travel agency

Good evening.

Based on the content of the question, I thought that a job involving visiting temples etc. at a travel agency might be suitable. Travel agencies in the area where I live have people like sales and tour conductors who are in charge of temples at several companies, and I ask them to go there to visit sacred places or study trips with parishioners. It would be fun to go on a temple tour with you who is familiar with Japanese history and Japanese art! I'd like you to take me there once.

Isn't it OK to be a civil servant?

I have an academic interest, and one job involving multiple temples is investigating the Board of Education and libraries and local archives under it. There are also many cases where they are outsourced to local study groups or senior clubs. Wouldn't it be good to start with local history research?

Let's connect with various temples

I read it.
I am very happy that you are interested in temples. Please try getting involved with the temple in various ways.
I think it's also very good to have a relaxed relationship with the temple.
For example, this site “hasunoha” is also one way to socialize with temples.
Maybe people connect by listening to the stories of various temples and monks through hasunoha.
Also, temple and shrine consites are connected to various temples.

Other than the site, you can connect to the temple in various ways.
The Buddhist Evangelism Association is an organization that aims to spread Buddhism.

For example, I think it is possible to work as an employee in such an organization.
There are also social contribution activities through temples.
“Hitosuji no Kai”

“Otera Snack Club”

“Shalana Tokyo” (Association of Monks Facing Suicide and Suicide)

Other volunteer monks have gathered and are working. Please take a look at such activities as well.
Among them, I'm sure you'll find temples and related jobs you'd like to work with.
It is said that there are about 70,000 temples all over the country, so the field is large.

I sincerely pray that you will continue to be blessed with wonderful relationships with temples and live a peaceful and happy life.
