About the Sega Demon Memorial Service

Thank you for telling me about various Buddhist rituals.

The other day, I received an announcement about the Segaki memorial service from the temple I had been consulting with before.

There is a Goma memorial service and a pagoda memorial service, and since the Goma memorial service is an even more gentle memorial service, it was said that houses that perform new Buddha would recommend the Goma memorial service.
Incidentally, the Goma memorial service was 5,000 yen per spirit, and the pagoda memorial service was 3000 yen per spirit.

By the way, my family is a Shingon sect, but do any temples hold memorial services for Sega demons?

My ancestors, grandparents, father, and mother will become the new Buddha in our family. When it comes to nengoro memorial services, I think they'd like to do a Goma memorial service, but it's 25,000 yen at a time.
I decided that they would also come to pray during the Obon festival, so of course they will also make offerings.
Speaking of feelings, it's a feeling, and I want to properly prepare memorial services for my ancestors and grandparents who haven't properly received the monk's sutras until now, and my father hasn't received sutras for a long time, so I think it's a vigorous memorial service. Of course, the mother of the new Buddha too.

But I wonder how it is in terms of money.
For example, my ancestors and grandfathers are pagodas, so is it OK for my parents to make a difference from the Goma memorial service?

I thought I'd visit a temple, but of course I think it's important, but if so, go to the Goma memorial service. That's how you feel. I think they'll say that.

So I'd like you to tell me about it here.
Thank you for your support.

I'm an outsider, but...

In the Jodo Shinshu sect, it is explained that those who have died have fallen to Gakido and are not suffering, but that they have all become Buddhas, so there is no Sega devil memorial service.
Or rather, there is no concept of “ancestral memorial service” or “memorial service” in the first place.
We simply put our hands together with our ancestors and the Buddha in gratitude.

It's not the answer Ankuma is looking for, but “By the way, my family is a Shingon sect, but do any temples hold memorial services for Sega demons?” There was a question, so just for your reference.

In the Segaki memorial service, it is important to “perform offerings with the heart of Kizute”

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is a humble answer to the question.

In the explanation of this origin, the false sutra theory established in China is dominant, and the influence of Esoteric Buddhism can also be inferred from the words “Buddha Sekyu Menzen Gakidarani Jinju-kyo,” “Buddha Sekai Kyu Amguchi Gakidarani,” “Yoga Shujo Rescue, Anandarani,” and “Buddha Sekai Ga Ki Kanro Dadharani Sutra,” and “Buddha Sekai Gaki Kanro Dadharani Sutra,” respectively, as can be inferred from the words “Dharani,” There is a strong possibility that it was established during the formative period of early Indian Esoteric Buddhism I have it.

It can be thought that the “Buddhist theory of the Uran Bon Sutra” is influenced by Confucianism, which deals with ancestral beliefs and ancestor worship, and that the Dharani sutras related to Sega demons have an influence on worldly interest beliefs, mantras, and Shingon rituals in Brahmanism and Hinduism.

The problem is that the origin of the Sega Ki memorial service is whether it can be easily denied, assuming that it is not derived from Shakyamuni's teachings, but if you easily deny it, you may have to deny even all of the teachings based on sutras compiled after Shakyamuni, which is extremely difficult.

While exaggerating, in view of the intended content and purpose of the Sega Ki memorial service, I think it is necessary to think about how to practice “worship” and treat worries at the root of it.

In the Sega demon memorial service, I think it is important not only for Gaki, but for all sentient beings who are lost and suffering, including themselves, to cultivate the spirit of escape, bodhiciteness, and mercy, and that they want to be saved, and that the merits extend to everyone, so that not only ancestors, but all sentient beings can achieve Buddhist fulfillment, and I think it will be important to turn around so that they can reach nirvana and the equinox.

I know that holding an alms memorial service is a memorial service that should be performed not only for hungry ghosts as a symbol, but also for all people, including myself, who have worries such as greed.

Along with the Zegaki memorial service, of course, alms are also given to those suffering from trouble with food and drink in the human world and the animal world. I know that giving alms with the heart of the devotion is suitable for the Sega demon memorial service, so I would be happy if you could think about this for a moment along with offering a memorial service as a form.

Think about a reasonable “gift”

A memorial service for Sega demons is also held at our temple.
My ancestors, grandparents, father, and mother are the new Buddha
I understand the feeling of wanting to do a memorial service for them all,
Not all spirits, I think it would be fine if it was just a memorial service for the parents.
Also, my ancestors and grandfather are pagodas, so I think my parents can do a memorial service for goma.
What is the feeling of Ankuma who wants to hold a memorial service for her ancestors
I think it can be conveyed enough.
Even if you just offer a wild flower,
My ancestors thought it was a good memorial service.
It's not a shape, it's a heart.

An-kuma-sama.

First of all, there is a Goma memorial service, which is originally called Goma Prayer.
Buddha and bodhisattvas are the objects of worship in Goma, and sentient beings pray.
Please take a look at the links below so there are no mistakes.
Also, it is a homecoming service for ancestral spirits, and they are kept in the spirit of the Buddha or Bodhisattva who is the object of the memorial service,
Please be aware that I pray for the well-being of the ancestral spirits of our ancestors.

Well, our temple will also hold a memorial service for Sega Ki in August.
At our side, we are accepting this as a matter of will,
It's fine to the extent that you can.
That heart goes the way your ancestors did... so there's no need to overdo it. Please don't worry.

The true meaning of Sheshokai

Think of Sega demon this way.
“It's not that demons called hungry ghosts exist after death or in the afterlife.
If there is one, it is a heart that lurks in the human heart, that loves oneself, and is selfish.
If there is one, it is a symbol of human selfishness, love that doesn't know the bottom of greed, and perseverance.
Actually, the people who died didn't fall into Gakido.
Through that anecdote, we give alms so that we don't become obsessed with selfishness, abandons our obsession with things and money, and lives like Buddha.
In order to cultivate that kind of heart, they have their own independence and attend as the feudal lord of the Jozai Kisetsu.”

Gaki is a heart, a heart where people depicted in illustrations since ancient times have lost their reason and have become like demons hungry for love, money, honor, and greed, and hungry for love, money, honor, and greed. That has happened to me too.
It's a painful image of the burning heart of selfishness, greed, and desire that everyone is born with.
That's why I give food as a symbolic act to my inner hungry heart.
The feast meal is called a Dharma meal, which is the Buddha's teaching.
We must teach each other the Buddha's teachings, which is the Dharma meal, chew them thoroughly, swallow them, and treat them as our own.
We give the Buddha's mercy and wisdom to all people and beings, including ourselves, as a rite of worship and sustenance.
So not only will your body be full, but your mind will also be satisfied.
People who are not satisfied are hungry whether they ride a Benz or Ferrari or live in a castle.
They are aware that it is enough to be satisfied, and they go to memorial services to as many people as possible.
You may feel that the memorial service for Shinbon is expensive, but part of the property left by the deceased was paid as a memorial service for the last time.
There is also the following in the conjunctive sentence.
“They are full of the Dharma (Buddha's soul food = wisdom & mercy) and utterly correct wisdom, and all of their endless worries have been relieved. May both the dead and the living (hidden) apply the benefits of salvation, and thereby also round off all kinds of wisdom.”
(translation)
It is a memorial service as if you read the Dharma Meal, Buddha's teachings, wisdom and mercy, nourish each other together (memorial service) and read it as if it were written.
PostScript
Make the least mentally taxing choice. I think that's fine.
The argument that she achieved or did not attain Buddhism is actually what Ankuma herself feels about the deceased, and her mother is forever at ease in a world of peace.

At the point where there is a sense of incongruity...

To Mr. An Kuma-sama

We are sorry for the inconvenience caused by the same Shingon sect.
I apologize.

At the point where there is already a difference of thought or a sense of incongruity about the amount of money
Unfortunately, I think it's moving in a bad direction.
I think it's unavoidable that even the idea of making a difference arises.
However, originally, I think it is appropriate to have them equal if possible.

Isn't it okay to think about it once again with your own feelings?
If you're still in trouble, I think it's important to honestly get an explanation from the temple. Gassho
