What is faith? I'm mad at my father who depends on my dead grandmother

Hello. There was nothing I could do, and after worrying, I would like to discuss it with you.

Today, I went to the first anniversary of my grandmother's death. My grandmother is my father's mother. My father's father (my grandfather) passed away when my father was in elementary school, and since then, my father has lived with my grandmother. My grandmother and mother didn't get along very well. That's because my grandmother was an impossibly self-centered person. (I'm sorry for saying it this way even though he passed away) My father is also a father, and he only protects my grandmother and is always on her side. So my family often quarreled.

My grandmother passed away a year ago, but even so, my father only cares about my grandmother. Today, I went to the first anniversary, and before I went, my father suddenly said, “Because I bought the principal image to be placed on a Buddhist altar.” I started saying that!

My father bought the principal image without permission, and will I have my life put at the end of my first anniversary? I found out about it in the waiting room. I didn't understand the meaning when I heard it. I can't believe they decided such an important thing without permission and bought it without permission.
Every day, I put my hands together by giving them food and water from the Buddhist altar and kamidana. They say they will do their best job hunting for the sake of their family. I thought my family would be happy, and I thought I had faith with all my might.
But my father did selfish things to me, and I was only angry while the monk was giving me sutras. I don't think we can put our lives on until we all discuss and are convinced to place the principal image. We all cherish it, so let's buy it. I think it's just a tree if you're not convinced.
While crying a lot, when I said that life wouldn't go into it even though everyone wasn't convinced, my father said, “I wanted to do it!!!” and only.

I thought faith was something we should do after taking good care of people who are alive today. Nevertheless, my father doesn't always try to solve the family's important future or problems. But I can think about my dead grandmother. I'm angry that if you have the capacity to think like that, think about a living family.
This is my fault, but when I visited graves, I threw a bouquet of flowers on the ground. I'm mad at my father and grandmother. I'm not talking to my father right now.

It's been a long time, but I don't understand what it means to be religious.
Also, since my father is like this, I am full of anxiety about what will happen to my house...

The law doesn't say that you should make memorial services for your ancestors. But it's not there.

In the strict sense of the word, devotion means “putting the Buddha's teachings into practice,” and it is not about thinking about the dead.
In the Lotus Sutra, which is said to have described the Buddha's intentions, the method of “holding hands, respecting, and respecting whoever you face” is written as the most effective means of ascetic practice in this modern day.

It's anyone.
So it's not wrong to put your hands on your grandmother.
Not being able to respect your family is clearly wrong.

But is that really the cause?
For my dad, I was my only mom.
There were bad points too. You must have felt that your family was angry.
But still. Maybe I was feeling grateful to have given birth to and nurture me.

My family hates the things that are important to me.
Maybe the father, who sensed that, acted selfishly.

Your anger probably comes from the pain of neglecting your precious self and the mother who gave birth to you.
I think Dad also had the pain of neglecting himself and his mother (whatever the cause).

If you have a different position, the value and meaning are completely different.
I'm not protecting my dad.
When the two of you can't get along, you should be kind to them yourself.
This is because it is you who gets hurt even more by not being able to get close to it.

What is faith

Minosuke

It was a good idea to confide that you are having serious problems.
“What is faith?”
I think this is something that even we monks who are regarded as experts continue to be questioned every day. Shamefully, what I'm saying is probably nothing but a joke by one monk who still doesn't have enough faith.

“I thought faith was something we should do after taking good care of people who are alive today.”
“I thought my family would be happy, and I thought I had put all my heart into it.”

My heart warmed when I heard Minosuke's words. I can't help but feel it. The reason I get so angry with my father and grandmother is probably because I have that feeling. You haven't done anything wrong. The feeling was such that I threw a bouquet of flowers to the ground. It's probably because Minosuke has unwavering love for her family, starting with her father.
If it's a cold family, no matter what the parents do, “Oh yeah, why don't you do it without permission?” That's where it ends. Dad was extremely wasteful (laughs) and made girls like you angry.

What exactly is your father's suffering?
As Keijo-sama also said, my only mother is hated by you, my only wife, and daughter. Who will support your grandmother? I don't think it's hard for a father, who is my son, to be disliked even after passing away.

While selfish, I think faith is “the heart that forgives and supports the other person.” It's simple, but it's not that difficult. Do you want to forgive whatever you do? You'd think so. However, as I keep asking questions within myself without being able to do it, I think it suddenly comes out of nowhere. It's not something you make by yourself.
Faith and a sense of justice are different things. The underlying passion (passion) may be the same. However, the way it appears is different. Faith seems to be a state of mind that is different from a sense of justice where you think “I should do...” or “I want to do this.” Maybe it's something that grows with support.

Does Minosuke have someone who supports her?
I'm sure that person, not me, will teach me what faith is.

Maybe that person is your father.

Faith is individual individual freedom

The father wants to worship the principal image, and since the father has freedom of religion, even parents and children cannot make you do what you want.
Have you ever run past a run?
Have you hit your foot against the corner of a chest of drawers?
I can't even move my own body the way I want.
What's more, even parents and children aren't people themselves, so it's normal that they don't move the way you want.
Your father's mind and body are not yours.
