On Amida's salvation and suicide

Isn't the teaching that any villain can be born in the Pure Land and become a Buddha with Amida's help would push the backs of those who want to die due to depression right now?

I think I can live more powerfully now with a sense of security that the power to save has been decided, and I think that is because I am healthy and in a mental and physical state where I can work hard.

If people with depression know that their current situation is so difficult that they just want to disappear or die, but when they die, they can become a Buddha who attains enlightenment, those words are very appealing, and I think they will die happily.

I want people with depression like that to live strong lives wrapped in Amida Nyorai's vows.

What should I think and talk about?

Accept someone who is unpopular

I read it.
I'm sure there are people who take it just like you said.
I understand what you're saying very well.

Amida saves and guides all those who are quiet in Nembutsu.
So we can leave anything to Amida without hesitation.

Death is not determined by us humans.
Nonetheless, it may be decided by taking one's own life, in other words, committing suicide. However, there is nothing we can do about it, and even if it is unavoidable, I think we should avoid cutting off the lives we have been given with our own hands as much as possible.
It's my precious life, which I finally received in the midst of so many circumstances. What's more, being born into a human body and receiving a Buddhist connection is a really difficult and thankful thing.

As the words of Honen Shonin say, “Receive someone who can be received...”, it is really difficult to be born into a human body. That probability may be more than one in hundreds of millions.
Among them, the fact that one comes across Buddhism may be another part of hundreds of millions.
Also, I am blessed with good relationships with many people in this world, and I am living this life.

I think we must look at the true value of life and the purpose of life.

We have received a lot of support, received various lives, and are now able to exist. And it's also for the benefit of people and for establishing oneself.

Also, the time we can live in this world is limited.
Nor can I live a hundred years. Even if I had lived for 100 years, that would be a blink of an eye.
No matter how much science progresses and the tools of civilization develop, they are like dust compared to the Buddha's mercy and wisdom.

If so, I think the way we have been given is to make effective use of our limited life and work hard, and above all else, leave everything to Amida and survive this life.

I think there are a few answers.

We ask that you receive various opinions and choose the answers and ways of life that you think are right for you.

I sincerely hope that you and everyone will continue to have the right faith, and that you can live through this life healthily, guided by the mercy and wisdom of the Buddha, and that when you complete your life, you will be guided by Buddha to properly pass away in the Pure Land of Paradise.

If it's not a temporary illusion, and you can die sincerely and happily, then that may be precious. However, what makes you want to die during depression is a temporary symptom of illness, so I want to avoid suicide due to depression somehow.
However, each person's faith is different. There are many religions, there are many denominations, and each person has their own ideas. It's good to preach Amitabha's salvation, but there is something called timing that is appropriate for the season. Just because you've been saved, you don't know if that person will be saved right now. So don't force them.
I don't know the detailed situation, but I think it's a good idea to first follow the doctor's instructions and give proper treatment, eliminate the stress that causes depression at work, etc., and let them recover little by little while being in touch with nature outside.
After that person has recovered, if there is an opportunity, I would like to tell them again about the salvation of Amitabha Buddha.
However, if the state of depression is severe and the chances of recovery are difficult, there may be no choice but to rely on Amida Buddha. Please have them sing it aloud with Namu Amida Buddha. You don't have to think about anything, and you can do it while thinking, so ask them to sing to their heart's content every day, whether it's 1 hour, 2 hours, or hours. When there is nothing we can do, we have no choice but to rely on the help of Amitabha Buddha.
I hope people who are depressed will recover.

Decide to pass away

Kita-sama

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

Instead of being interpreted and judged arbitrarily by individuals, I know that when past lives are decided or faith is determined, it is necessary to thoroughly examine what kind of situation it is based on Buddhist scriptures.

Appropriate causation (cause and condition) is necessary in order to pass away.

Of course, in order to reach enlightenment, a cause and a relationship for that purpose is naturally necessary.

In order to ensure the reconciliation of these causes and relationships, it is important to thoroughly learn and practice Buddhism.

Anyway, as I said, “It's difficult for sentient beings without a relationship,” first of all, I think we must work hard every day to make sure that everyone has an appropriate Buddha relationship.

Thank you very much for your kind encouragement so that you can work firmly on the cause and death towards death and enlightenment in this life along with being properly connected to the Buddha.

Now, this nembutsu is meant to be the last nembutsu

I think people who die by suicide due to depression are like dying of illness.
Not limited to depression, there are probably patients who don't have a long lifespan left due to illness, or where it is difficult to predict when they will live.
Furthermore, we don't know when we will die, even if we don't have illnesses that catch us during medical examinations.

If that's the case, maybe that's why we have to preach nembutsu.
I think it is only necessary to let Amitabha Buddha know about the salvation of Amitabha right now, even if they commit suicide at any time.

Whether you are a healthy person or a young person, when using Namu Amida Buddha and Nembutsu, you can call (say) this nembutsu with the intention of the last death.
I thought it would be fine because if my life ended at this moment, I could pass away in the Pure Land of Paradise.
Then, if you get a long life as a result, that nembutsu will not be a dying nembutsu, but a lifelong nembutsu (regular nembutsu).

If you had a chance to preach Amitabha's salvation and didn't explain it, and if you think that person would pass away the next day, rather, it's only for people who are likely to commit suicide,
Namu Amida Buddha says you can always pass away in paradise
Maybe I should tell you.

Save with Amida's infinity and limitless convenience

When it comes to who makes Amida's thought “this is probably the case,” isn't it an idea unique to individual humans?
The real Amida-sama is the truth and truth that only appears where it goes beyond the “intense” personal thoughts and opinions of such people.
Even in Zen Buddhism, the “Tanbutsukai (Tanbutsue)” praises Amida.
It's a Zen-style way of preaching Amida, so some people may be resistant, but we have encountered “the present, here, and this” with Amida Buddha.
Why do they draw the other Buddha in this world, this world, today's day, now, here, and right in front of me. Why is he breathing like this now, and he doesn't find the address @ of life and breath right there right now, and why are they trying to find pure land and paradise in his place, other places, and other worlds? Dogen Zenji also had questions about this, and was severely criticized in the Gakudo Yoshinsho Collection, saying “You must not make people wish for death in other places out of your heart.” The temple was burnt down, though.
What I personally think is that when I hear the words zazen, enlightenment, and amida-sama, a strange thing happens that normal people usually “think specially in their own way from there.”
You probably think that you can live more powerfully now with a sense of security that the power of salvation has been decided, so that's fine.
With this world, this life, and my own life, I wanted to feel the attainment of Buddhism and the Pure Land only in this world, so I sought such teachings and settled.
As a parable, if you compare Amida to the moon, the way you see it differs greatly depending on where you look at it from the country or space.
If you remember beauty on a full moon, that person's appearance on the moon. Those who feel the beauty of the crescent moon are probably fine with it. People who can feel that the sun is behind that light would be good too. There are also people who are saved by being illuminated by the moonlight reflected on the surface of the water.
If you like the Pure Land of the World After Death, go there.
If you want to experience the Pure Land while you're alive in this world, go there.
All of them are convenient for Amitabha, and they are limitless choices offered to those of us who are alive. The imposition and thought “My Amitabha is like this” is like arguing with “My Christ is like this” and “No, my Christ is like this.” Let's support each other in this living world and share the mercy of Buddha Amida.
