Ikkyu-san
Ikkyu-san is good at tonchi, but are all monks good at tonchi?
How do I polish it? I want to be good at tonchi.
Ikkyu-san is good at tonchi, but are all monks good at tonchi?
How do I polish it? I want to be good at tonchi.
Tonchi is wisdom that comes out instantaneously and quickly when it comes to kanji. The task of thinking is certainly a good thing, but if you think you're “lost,” there's nothing you can do without thinking about it. The question is whether all monks are good at it, but monks are people who make an effort to become good at it, and they are not perfected people. Also, there may be sects that do not recommend such efforts per se.
As for how to polish it, how about practicing without getting lost in your own words and actions.
When asked if it's bread or rice at a restaurant, when answering the type of salad dressing, when sitting on a train, when an elderly person stands in front of you, when a small child is crying...
I also want to be good at it, so I usually keep that in mind.
One of the monks I respect is Ikkyu-san. Everything was solved in a daze. Everyone is not the same as quizzes and riddles.
Everyone has experienced it. How should I persuade a friend who has passed by (exaggerated)? What should I say to my parents when I want them to understand my intentions? That's when Tonchi is used. Direct communication of your thoughts and feelings is not the only solution. Judging the other person's position and personality and searching for ways of speaking and expression that suit the other person is where they end up. This is a scene I often see when I watch the anime Ikkyu-san.
The reason why Buddha created Buddhism is liberation from the caste system. At that time, people in India were divided according to the caste system under Brahmin religion. Buddha founded Buddhism because he wanted to save people suffering from that caste system. The Rokudō Reincarnation was originally a caste system, and the only way to break free (liberate) from there was no choice but to create an emerging religion and set people free.
Ikkyu-san is a monk who saved people from suffering through Tonchi. It is the proselytism of Buddhists (monks) since the Buddha that saves people from suffering. There are also monks who use other methods to save people from suffering.
I'm also in the middle of searching. What is absolutely necessary at that time is a wide range of knowledge, perspectives from various angles, and a forgiving heart, which seems to be the practice of the six waves. (Please search for Rokuharami to look it up.) For the time being, meeting people, reading, TV, DVDs, movies, romance, marriage, work, housework, travel... I think and absorb everything. At the end of the day, I think experience matters.
A bad son became a monk on the recommendation of his parents. My son said “I drink alcohol, eat meat, and hang out with women” as a condition. My parents couldn't help it, so I agreed. My son also read the sutras, but when he lived according to the conditions, Amida came from heaven and said, “Hey! what are you doing. Throw that stuff away.”
There were ① sake ② meat ③ mistress ④ sutras. The son threw away what he didn't need, as he was told. Then Amida said, “Yeah! That's good.” Said that, and went back to heaven. What did this son throw away and what did he leave behind?
I threw away all the answers. (Abandoned my obsession) This is a story I heard from a lecturer during my training. I forgot the source. I'm sorry.
Mr. Water
This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.
“Ikkyu-san,” which is familiar to us, is probably “Ikkyu-san” from the world of national comics and anime.
Actually, the actual person who became the model was Ikkyu Sojun Zenji.
http://ja.wikipedia.org/wiki/一休宗純
There are two evaluations: the aspect where he demonstrated his excellent qualities as a Zen monk and the eccentric aspect due to his free-spirited nature, but I think there is probably no doubt that he was an extremely convenient and skilful monk.
Convenience is a method or method of using various ingenuity to successfully convince the other party that things are good or bad, and reason, but we can hear from various anecdotes that Ikkyū Zenji was quite excellent.
I think this convenient advantage was created in various ways in later generations as “tonchi/tonchi,” which means excellent wit and quick wit from the wisdom of enlightenment, as “tonchi” in the manga and anime “Ikkyu-san.”
In the Zen style of Ikkyu Zenji, along with thoroughly separating “entrapment” and “obsession,” there are places where people sincerely accept “as they are” about how things are in reality and are guided by how they should live, and I know that even though it is a humble life, it is a humble life of an immature person who is shallow and untalented.
Leaving “captivity” and accepting “as is”... actually, it's very difficult...
Now, it is said that I want to improve my “tonchi” and become good at it, but I know that efforts such as regular training, simulation, repetitive training, and instillation into the conscious and subconscious mind will be essential even when it comes to quick wit and wit.
Also, I would be happy if you could take this opportunity to read just an anecdote on Wikipedia of Ikkyu Sojun Zenji that actually existed, and I would be happy if you could think a little bit about that intention.

Hello, Mr. Water.
Tonchi Densetsu has become famous, isn't it?
All monks are good at poking! It's not... Unfortunately.
They say they want to be good at tonchi, but I'm sure it means “I want to say something good”... I think so. What do you think?
It means practice and practice. There is only practice... but it may be fair to say “there is only research.”
Monks can think about something entangled in Buddhism, and wear Buddhist glasses to watch. Maybe that's because it's just practice and research.
Water also collects information on TV and the internet, so please practice.
① The other day, when I took the bottle to the bin collection box at a large supermarket nearby, I inadvertently dropped it and broke it.
Alala~, everyone is watching Lululul~ ♪
Immediately, I took the tissue paper box out of the car, gobbled out the contents, tore the box, tore it into a shape like chili, and quickly picked up the small pieces of glass that had fallen.
Only a few tens of seconds in between. It was a calm and quick response.
I was quick witted, and I was amazed and amazed ♡ why Sarari and this kind of idea came up.

I think Chie is very important.
I've never cultivated “tonchi” itself, but when images, preconceptions, and stereotypes about things come off, I think everyone's free ideas usually spring up from within.
If there are times when ○ is enough, the point is enough, and you only need to do something about it, you will be able to do something with what you have.

I don't know if everyone is good at it
While talking about various things
Naturally, it seems easier for people to listen when there is laughter.
I also keep a little careful in the Dharma, depending on the circumstances.

By gaining various knowledge in everyday life and thinking about various things
Wouldn't it be possible to do something like that sometimes? Gassho
