Why do monk clothes look so hot

Monks, thank you for your hard work during the Obon festival.

Even so, the fact that the monk's monk's uniform is layered even in the heat makes it hard to look at. As for the colors (depending on the denomination), they are all dark colors such as black or purple. I sincerely respect monks who do legal affairs without even being able to roll up their sleeves no matter how hot it is.
Are you being extra indebted to me? Is it OK if it's a monk who has gone through ascetic practices?

I wonder if there isn't an abbreviated cool-feeling clothing like the monk costume version of Cool Biz. Of course, I know that each color and form of monk clothes has an important meaning, but as expected, the heat in recent years is too severe.

There may be many opinions, but personally, I would like people to wear comfortable clothes rather than formal clothes. Frankly speaking, I think clothes close to Jinbei or work clothes are fine. It's not like we're being praised for our clothes.

I think I'll apply to Sohonzan by email, but I wonder if that's an extra thank you. Or is it useless? It also has traditions, and I understand that it can't be changed all of a sudden...
Or are there various ways to cool down monk clothes in recent years?

Anyway, thank you so much for your hard work, monks.
Please stay in a cool place for a while.

(I'm sorry if I made you rather uncomfortable by saying it in a way that disrespects tradition. Also, if the question is inappropriate for this site, please leave it alone. (If there is no response for 2 or 3 days, it will be deleted.)

Good morning.

The hot days continue, don't they? How are you?

Thank you for your concern. That look is really hot.
In the Soto sect, they first wear underwear, then wear undergarments, white coats (kimono), straight clothes (black), and kasa (like a cloak) on top of that.
When it's around the Obon season, I wear a leaflet with a short sleeve called a modified garment, and put on something I want to put on top of that, called tangerine (kusu). This alone is quite different.

In India, where Buddhism was born, they dressed naked, but when they entered China, it seems that they put on costumes over their own costumes. If Buddhism came to modern Japan, it might have been a blessing on a suit.

There are various ways to keep you cool, such as making underwear cool and applying something that makes you feel cool when you spray it on your clothes. It hasn't changed from being hot, though.
Secret (it won't be a secret if I write it here) I go around the Obon season dressed like being entangled in improved clothes on top of white work clothes. Just because the bottom is shaped like pants, it's easy to walk, and it makes it much easier to handle the crotch when climbing up from the dirt floor. Even though it's hot, it hasn't changed.

The Obon Festival is over, so I'm going to relax for a while. Thank you very much.

ahhh! As other monks have written, of course, they change their kimonos according to the season. After that, I repeated “It's hot, but it doesn't change,” but actually, I'm nervous, so I don't feel that hot when I wear it.

Thank you for your concern.
But don't worry.
That's because I properly use summer clothes and winter clothes.
Summer clothes are made of thin fabric and large mesh, making them highly breathable.
Also, it is part of each monk's job to devise ways every day to make it easier to perform memorial services.

The monk's summer clothes are not compatible with the current summer heat.

Hello, Wing Chun Dozi.

That's a great point of view (laughs).
It is also called a summer robe, and while making use of traditional costumes in the past, yarn garments made of hemp, are now mainstream. Also, underwear that is even cooler and more functional is being sold.
However, basically, people often wear anything as clothing because the Edo period was a mini ice age, and the heat didn't continue like it is now even in summer. Right now, it's hotter than in the south, so maybe a Thai dress would suit me (laughs).

But actually, this heat will soon be over. It seems that history is that the mini ice age will soon begin and the weather will be around the middle of Edo. This is the last warming period before the Ice Age begins. It seems that the temperature will begin to drop in a few years. I don't know what's going to happen (laughs)

Unlike other countries, Japan is a country with a four-season climate. It's difficult. Gassho

Thank you

Thank you for your kind words.

As you said, why are they wearing such hot clothes?
Since I was in the first year of elementary school, I was in monk style during this period, so that became natural.

As written by other monks, the clothes of monks have changed depending on the times and regions.
However, in recent years, compared to the Edo period, for example, there doesn't seem to be much change.

Even if you try different occupations, uniforms for doctors, police officers, firefighters, boatmen, etc. are very different from the Edo period.

So why hasn't the monk's style changed since ancient times?

“That's because the boy has been skipping the whole time”
When I was an ascetic monk, I was scolded by a great monk.
So even if you email our head office, it ends up going through.

But it's different, at least I think, and I want to tell the great monk who forgot who it was.

This style is traditional.
It's the same as sumo wrestling and kabuki, and it's a tradition.

I am proud to be a monk because I continue to protect it.

The content overlaps with Kozenshi, but I will also devise ways.
Even if you don't break everything, a little ingenuity can make a big difference in your daily performance.

Also, Obon isn't hot for me.
That's because my heart is hotter.

My temple is Obon until the 24th.
We've already crossed the mountain.

Far from being uncomfortable, I was happy to hear your words.
Thank you so much.

There is a thing called summer clothes, but it's still hot

I read it. For clothing in July and August, the clothes cut at the top are “()” and “(sha)”
There is. You can think of both as sukesuke see-through fabrics. I also wear a white coat that I wear underneath that is made of thin fabric. My mother does Japanese tailoring, so I was wearing handmade shirt fabric. Furthermore, the undershirt wears a half-juban instead of a long juban. Sweating underneath
I'm going to wear a summer short sleeve shirt. Oh, I hang a hat over my clothes, but this is also a thin one in summer
I will choose. I also wear summer socks that don't have a lining for the socks.

The summer clothes and winter clothes were changed in June, but now school uniform changes are called changing clothes,
There seem to be a lot of them. Originally, it was about changing the monk's clothes.

Also, we young monks aren't allowed, but the coolness goods that are allowed to older monks are lacking in skill
But when I put a basket woven with bamboo on my arm, it looks like a ventilation duct, and I wonder if it's somewhat cool
I think so. Fans are also cheat goods, aren't they? There are also people who look up to him with a tool called Nakakei.

The main hall of the temple is a Japanese house, so the eaves are deep, dark, and cool, and when you open the door, it is well ventilated,
It's ready. However, it's not cool at all due to recent abnormal weather. However, at the main hall
I can't afford to turn on the air conditioner.

The fact that funerals at ceremony halls are increasing recently is also a big problem with air conditioning.
Is it air conditioning/chair seating/parking? No matter how the chair seats and parking lot work, just the air conditioning
The reality is that nothing will happen.

It's probably about putting a large fan on it. However, if you don't do well at that either, incense ash will fly off
You have to be careful.
