I'm wondering if I should quit my job and become a farmer.

Thirties, male, married, childless, office worker. I'm wondering if I should change jobs to my parents' farmhouse.

I worked for the company for 13 years, but the department I was in was disbanded, and I had no choice but to change jobs. However, I am considering switching to agriculture in less than half a year. My parents are farming together at my parents' house, and they take over.
The reasons are as follows.

・The fact that income has dropped at various levels compared to the previous company.
・The pain of having to start as a rookie even though I'm in my thirties.
・My parents, who farm at my parents' house, are getting old, and I'm worried about my parents' health.

However, there is also a reason why they are unable to take the plunge and become a farmer.
・I've been watching since I was a kid, and I know that farming is difficult. When I'm busy, I work from morning until late at night, and I hardly get a day off. It means I'm worried about whether I'll actually do my job.
・Currently, I live close to my wife's hometown, and I have to persuade my wife to take her to my hometown (countryside).
・Quitting a company and farming means you think it's not an “run away.”

My parents don't say it strongly, but sometimes they say things like “I want you to come back to my parents' house and help the farmer.”

I'm at a loss as to whether to take the plunge and change jobs to a farmer, or if I should stick around and continue my current job without trying to change jobs, or what to do.

I would be grateful if you could give me some advice.

What are the positive aspects of agriculture?

What are the negative aspects of working for a company
I'm listing the negative aspects of agriculture
Why don't you also look at the positive side of agriculture?

Everything has its pluses and minuses.
Are you going to a place with big pluses
Will they move away from places with big minuses
they're both good reasons
It's not an “run away.”

Incidentally, I
I quit my job and got a job at a temple.
It's open all year round and my income has decreased
There was also an advantage that made up for that.
I think that kind of job change is also a good idea.

Food is needed forever

That's great.
I hope you will inherit your parents' agriculture by all means.
It is a job that is needed even during a disaster in the food and transportation industry, and it is the most important job for people who support food in Japan to live.
If you take over the business of the house, your parents will be able to trust the land they have protected from generation to generation with peace of mind. Never sell your fields. Both the land and the heart are treasures, but if you don't add ties, the treasure will go bad.
Now is the time to start sowing seeds.
It's a great opportunity to learn from the beginning of the year in agriculture.
Stop, and you may be able to focus on your work without getting depressed.
In particular, today's Japan has pesticide concentrations until it is called a pesticide powerhouse, so I think new ideas are necessary.
My wife's mom's friend has also been entrusted with part of the field as the farmer's wife, but they are growing crops from a new perspective.
The monk's clothes are said to be Fukuda's clothes.
This represents fields, dandelions, and farmland.
If you sow Buddha seeds there (in the field of your heart), the fruit will surely grow.
Apart from that, it's not something that only we monks can wear; it means that humans should not leave their minds like fields and leave them in a wasteland.
In Buddhism, spiritual ambition is called Bodhi Heart.
As people say, “Today is probably the day to sow the seeds of Higan Bodhi,” I would like you to take a new step by using your own heart as a field.

There may also be conflicts due to working with parents at home.
However, when it comes to work, I'm a big senior, so please go with a fresh feeling and don't share your heart.
When it comes to work, you won't succeed even if you do it with an easy feeling.
Let's get rid of the feeling that “I should take over the work at home.”
If we're going to do it anyway, let's aim big to become the best farmer in Japan.

because it's your life

I read it.
It's your life, so ultimately it's up to you to decide at your own risk.
Please consult carefully with everyone in your family and make a firm decision.

If I were to give you my personal opinion, I would definitely like you to aspire to agriculture.
I think the harvest that can be obtained by receiving various blessings in nature and inheriting traditions from our ancestors is extremely appreciated.
I think living by being grateful for nature's blessings and appreciating the family's help is still a wonderful way to live.

I sincerely pray that your future will be blessed with abundant fruits and that you will have a truly happy life with all of your family.

And I'm rooting for you and everyone.

Please join forces and do your best while taking care of each other.
