Is it good to ask the Buddha

I heard that you should not ask Amida or Buddha at the temple.
There are times when we pray for longevity and happiness at shrines, etc., but isn't it bad to ask the Buddha that way?

I'm quite conflicted with the content I answered in the question below, but...

About requests to Buddha etc.

Prayers are also held at temples. Today, too, we prayed for the plague to be dispersed in conjunction with Kannon's memorial service.

However, there are places where the content of this prayer is different from what is done elsewhere in Buddhism, and if possible, it is not secular or selfish happiness, etc., and in the case of Buddhism, it is important to hope for something altruistic, so that everyone can escape suffering.

Simply put, it's not about your own happiness, it's about wishing for everyone's happiness, but no one can do that from the beginning. So, along with your own wishes, it's a good idea to wish for other people's wishes at the same time.

If I had to say what that means, let's say you have become ill, for example. Therefore, in addition to hoping that my illness will be cured, I also hope that the illnesses of those who have become ill in the same way and are having a hard time will be cured.

It means “colleague” in Zen. What you wish for yourself means that people will wish in the same way. Therefore, it means wishing for happiness not only for oneself but for others as well.

I recommend that you hope so.

BTW,

“I heard you shouldn't ask the Buddha”
No, there's nothing wrong with that.
No matter what kind of wish or grudge you make, Hoke-sama silently listens to her.

By the way, what do you plan to do if your wish doesn't come true successfully?

Humans can't help but ask gods and Buddhas.

Even if I ask God
Most likely, it won't come true.
Even if you ask the Buddha
It's the same.
Such a thing
Everyone knows that.

OK
Why would you ask for it?
