Does “the meaning of life” have meaning
Enlightenment such as “Let's search for the meaning of life” is often being raised, but what is the meaning of the purpose of life discovered in this way?
On Earth (this world), which will eventually disappear, we will die in over 100 years no matter what, and it makes me think that even if we act with a “meaning to live,” there is no overall meaning.
When I was little, I wanted to accomplish feats that would go down in history. However, as I grew older, I began to think strongly about what it would be if such a social contribution were made. Even if you leave great results, once you die, you won't be able to see the world after that (you can't recognize the impact of your own achievements), and when the world ends, it will come back to nothing. I feel like the meaning of what I thought was the “meaning of life” is gone.
I think this is partly due to abandonment that “such a feat cannot be achieved,” but there is no change in thinking strongly about “assuming that the actions I have caused have an impact on the present and the future after death,” there is no change in thinking strongly about “what will happen.”
By thinking like this, it seems that the meaning of living and searching for it are meaningless.
The fact that pain is unbearable in life also encourages this idea. Why do people live in the midst of suffering, try to leave something behind in this society, and keep up the baton of life? Also, what kind of “meaning of life” do people who live every day without motivation to leave anything behind live?
I myself still haven't been able to find a “meaning of life” that surpasses the pain that occurs in living, and trying to find a “meaning to live” is a hassle, and I don't want to do it anymore. I even thought that it would be easier to just disappear rather than live with this kind of feeling in my head, and since I haven't left for a few months, I've written the length of my thoughts here.
It's become a rambling story, but if you don't mind, please tell me a story based on Buddhism about this. Thank you for your support.
