How to deal with work

It's been 5 years since I came to my current job.

I have a personality that wants to do everything efficiently and in a snappy manner.

Even after finishing one job, as soon as my hands were free, I was entrusted with various tasks, and my personal work did not proceed as expected.

I have to do the entire work assigned to me by my boss, and I also have to finish my individual work while I don't have time, and it's frustrating every day when I can't do it all in parallel.

Also, maybe they aren't good at handing over work to juniors, and they think, “If it's this much work, I'll do it myself,” and as a result, the amount of work increases.

On the other hand, there are times when I strangle myself, but I also have the view that “other people clearly have less work, so why only me.”

As you can see, every day I don't have time or mental time to spare, and I feel very depressed.

How should we deal with work in the future?
Also, how should we come to terms with our feelings?

Work is teamwork

Thank you for your work.

By the way, the answer is just as you wrote it yourself.
You should leave the work to juniors who have free hands.
Use about 80% of your work processing capacity as a guide for the amount of work you are in charge of. After that, leave the work to a junior or boss.
Otherwise, you'll get tired both mentally and physically, and you won't be able to cope with sudden events.

Also, entrusting work to juniors doesn't mean neglecting work.
Entrusting is also a job.
Work is teamwork.
It's also about letting your juniors gain experience and nurture them, and above all, it's also to prevent yourself from becoming depressed and causing much trouble to your workplace.

Gather up your courage and let your juniors, and possibly your boss, do the work. That is work too.

People can't do two things at the same time

Shieri

You're a very trustworthy person ^_^
They think they'll be able to get the job done quickly.

I don't think it's possible to work at the same time. Humans can't do two things at the same time ^_^

Like eating while talking or reading a book while watching TV. It looks like it's done, and if you observe it closely, they just do it moment by moment.
I think that if you change to a style where you can do things one by one without trying to work at the same time, you will be able to relax your mind.
That's because they try to do something they couldn't do originally, so it becomes impossible.

The purpose of a job is never to do the job itself.

My name is Kameyama Junshi.
The idea of “I want to do everything efficiently and quickly” isn't a bad thing, is it? Also, even if you finish one job, the fact that you are entrusted with various tasks as soon as your hands are free is probably proof that your abilities have been recognized. But I'm in trouble if my work doesn't go the way I want it to.
Also, it's not common for people to think “I'll do everything myself,” and as a result, the amount of work increases. What you entrust to them should be left to them.
Also, on the other hand, there are times when I strangle myself, but I don't often recognize that there are people who look at themselves as “other people clearly have less work, so why am I the only one.”

There is a story called “The Parable of the Poison Arrow” in Buddhist scriptures.
“Let's say a person is suffering from being shot by a poisonous arrow. At that time, people who were around that person would call a doctor. However, the person in question asked, “Where did this arrow fly from?” “What kind of poison is this?” “Who was it shot by?” I thought, “Don't extract this arrow until you understand it.” I say it. In the meantime, this person will eventually die. So what should we do? That means drawing an arrow right away.

Work is similar to this parable. “Who did the work?” It's not. Therefore, the state of suffering from taking on work by oneself is exactly a state where a poisonous arrow is stuck in one's own body. Let's ask people what we can ask others to do. The purpose of an individual job is by no means to do the job itself. So, instead of taking on all the work you do, you can entrust some of it to your juniors. Please take pride in your work and live a fulfilling life.

These are my answers. I hope it helps.

What is important is the “middle way”

Nice to meet you, Shieri. My name is Ryotaka Shamen.
Thank you for your hard work every day.

Suddenly, this anecdote has been left in the teachings of Buddha, the founder of Buddhism.

At one point, there was a disciple of the Buddha named Shrona who was worried that she would not be able to gain enlightenment even if she continued her ascetic practice to the point where she shed blood from her feet.

To him, who was good at koto before becoming a monk, the Buddha said, “If the strings of the koto are strong, will they make a good sound?” I asked, “The strings of the koto don't make a sound that is either too strong or too loose. He explained, “The same goes for ascetic practices.”

In other words, it's not good to be lazy, but it's also not good to be too strict.
True peace cannot be obtained from a lazy life drowning in desire or a life of repeated life-threatening ascetic practices (penance). Don't be biased. There is comfort only when the tension is just right.

It was explained. This is one of the important teachings of Buddhism called “middle way” in technical terms.

Well, you're in your 5th year at your current job. Looking at your career and your usual work, your boss is probably relieved that if you entrust the work to you, there won't be any major mistakes. Maybe I'm a little too relieved (sweat)

If you accumulate “this much work, let's do it myself”, it will be a huge amount of work... as you can see from the text, you should be aware of that too.

If you continue to lose your time, the strings in your heart will eventually break.
Or, due to mental and physical exhaustion, you may make mistakes you haven't made until now.

If so, there's one thing you should do.
Let's entrust the work to the extent that we can entrust to our juniors. I was also often told when I was an employee, but it is also an important job to properly entrust work. I'm sure the juniors who have been entrusted will not feel bad if they are recognized by you. Also, tell your boss that you want them to have the courage to think about your workload and assign the job.

It's not a bad thing to entrust a job or turn it down when you can't afford it.
Rather, if you take it on even though you can't afford it, everyone will lose money in the end.

What is important is “just the right tension” and “middle road.”
Please find your “middle way.”

No problem, you should be able to find just the right “middle way.”
Please do your best. But be careful not to try too hard. Gassho (^ people ^)
