I want to be able to believe

Nice to meet you. Thank you for your support.
Until now, I have been working while having an illness. I would like to be able to talk not only about Buddhism, but also about the meaning of living with someone.
Aren't such meetings held at temples, etc.?

Then, what is the point of giving sutras?
There are also people who say that the reason I am suffering now is because I am possessed by spirits that have not been offered at memorial services.
It seems that offering sutras causes memorial services, but if I give sutras, will my ancestors be happy?

I used to give sutras and meditate, but I was wondering if it really worked (although it's an irreverent thought), so I stopped.

However, if this is the case, I feel something is useless. I want to be believable. I came to this page because of that question.
Please go ahead and look forward to your support.

Buddhism is useful for peace of mind

I think it varies from temple to temple.
My recommendation is the Japan Therawada Buddhist Association. Why don't you take a look at the homepage. n
The threshold may not be as high as a regular temple.

Reading sutras is a form of Buddhist image training, an ascetic practice for peace of mind.
If possible, it is better to sing after understanding the meaning to some extent. It doesn't matter if you just chant vaguely with Buddhist teachings and respect for the Buddha.

Meditation can also be used as training to control delusional distractions, and there is a high possibility that it will help overcome worries and suffering.
“Does it really work?” What I think may also be a delusional distraction.

Sutras are Buddha's sermons.

> What is the meaning of giving sutras?
The sutras describe the Buddha's sermons.
Reading it aloud as a ritual is chanting the sutras.
I recommend reading the contents normally rather than reciting sutras.
I think I'll be able to hear sermons I've never heard before.
It's difficult if it's still in Chinese, so I think it would be nice if you could read modern translations of sutras at bookstores.
I also can't read it in kanji at all (^^;)

> There are also people who say that the reason I am suffering now is because I am possessed by spirits that have not been offered at memorial services.
There is no such teaching in Buddhism.
There is no need to be misled by such stories.

> When I share sutras, will my ancestors be happy?
I think they will be delighted to see the Buddha studying his teachings.
The Buddha does not read aloud to his ancestors; he wants him to enjoy the sutras himself.

Sutras are not something to sing or read

It's something to learn.
It's something to understand.
And it's not about the head, it's something you should embody and experience.
It's about becoming like myself, according to the sutras.
No matter how much I say to the recipe, I can't cook there.
If you make it according to the ingredients, seasonings, and cooking methods described in that recipe, the dish will always be ready.
If you follow the ascetic practices described in the sutras, you will surely attain enlightenment.
If it's Saitama, try going to zazen if it's easy to get to Sayama.
I preach the sutras that have come alive every week.
I'll leave it at 500 yen for 1,000 yen.
But until then, do your homework.
For example, there is probably no increase or decrease in the Heart Sutra.
What kind of heart is a heart that neither increases nor decreases?
Please think about it for a moment.
And please let us know your views.
The tip is to surrender to the facts.

whether you believe it or not...

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

“I wish I could talk about the meaning of living with someone”...

First of all, please feel free to ask questions about “the meaning of life” at Hasunoha.

So far, I have answered the following questions.

“What is the meaning of giving sutras”...

I understand that the meaning of giving sutras is to thoroughly learn and practice Shakyamuni's teachings and Buddhism, similar to those of Kakumoto Tange and Shakshin Oath. It's something you shouldn't read without understanding the meaning. As much as possible, we should rely on modern translations and papers, etc., and understand their contents and use them in practice. Also, I believe that if that practice is correct and becomes even better, our ancestors will feel safe and happy.

As a modern translation, how about a “book of well-understood sutras” by Yuki Yoshifumi, Kodansha, etc.

Also, please refer to the following site for various papers.

“There are also people who say that the reason I am suffering now is because I am possessed by spirits that have not been offered at memorial services”...

Well, think of it as not. There's nothing to worry about.

For the time being, please also refer to a few of my humble answers about spirits so far.
