Imagawa Yoshimoto's army attacked. So what do we do? The answer is “know or not!” That's it. The reason is “because there is no material for judgment.”
This information has come in. “The enemy's military strength is 5 to 10 times this one.” Then it looks like this. “Well, it's no use fighting from the front with a direct attack method. You have no choice but to surrender, or if you fight, lock up the castle and wait for reinforcements, or make a surprise attack in one or eight.” Hi, just one judgment material came up, and “do you know it or not!” The plan was narrowed down to 3 based on the status. Sumbarashi!
Thinking about it further... “Where do you call reinforcements... aren't the Saito family and Kitabatake family on the other side in a dispute with us!” Hi, the number of judgment materials increased by 1, and I was able to narrow it down to 2 choices. Shall we surrender? a strange move? what do you do what do you do??
Then I got this information! “Imagawa's general revealed the location. What's more, the enemies are developed in a V shape, so if you break through the middle, it seems like you can ignore other enemies and pinpoint the enemy's general!” If that's pretty much the case in a surprise attack, then there's no need to surrender! Thus, Oda Nobunaga went to a speed race with the cavalry, and after that, as you all know, Okehazama was right in the middle.
Making your own decisions doesn't actually mean having your own intentions; it's an accumulation of searching for materials to make decisions.
I don't have a habit of searching for judgment materials, so I don't know what to do. I don't have a habit of searching for judgment materials, so I want to follow other people's decisions. I don't have a habit of searching for materials for judgment, so I'm made to dance to the word my own decision. It's all like that.
Why are Hasunoha monks able to answer so many questions? That's because I'm not thinking for myself. They're just mediating the Buddha's teachings. If you read the questions (judgment materials) over and over and compare them with Buddhism (judgment criteria), the direction of the answers will naturally be determined.
Monks have different types of teachings learned from denomination to denomination, and each person interprets those teachings differently. This difference in judgment criteria becomes individuality. So, when you mix it with your own experiences and become comfortable, it becomes a judgment standard you remember with your body from a standard of judgment you think with your head, and it becomes like that person's personality or something like that person's own decisions.
So if you want to make your own decisions, don't face your own personality. These three points are important: scavenging judgment materials around the problem, listening carefully to the lessons of our forefathers and keeping them in a corner of our heart, and creating one's own field of expertise and studying carefully. Personality is something that comes after that.
