How to stay calm

This is a high school boy.

Since the relationship I was born in a temple, from 2 years ago
I am now fascinated by Buddhism.

Now, the question is “I want to keep my cool.”

I have weak points in my personality.
I went to a preparatory school, but I was always rushed by something
It makes me lose my mental leeway.

I know very well that peace of mind is important,
I can't calm down, and I go home exhausted.

I don't have mental leeway, so I haven't been able to shine with the life I've received.
Rather, I think they've spoiled it.
I feel sorry for myself like that,
That's disappointing.

But monks are calm and calm on a daily basis
I think it makes my life shine.

So I wanted to do something about this situation where I got stuck
I asked a question.

What should I do to stay calm no matter what kind of situation I'm in
Can you do it?
Thank you for your support.

I use TFT therapy.

It is a method of controlling the mind by tapping acupuncture pressure points with fingers.
I was able to overcome my acrophobia with this.
It's easy to do anywhere right away.

I recommend Morikawa Ayame's book.

HIBIKUKAGAYAKU
My name is Tetsuya Urakami from Nagomi-an, thank you for your support.

After reading the question, I was surprised that many people who were born in a temple feel opposed to temples and Buddhism in their middle school and high school age.
Also, when you are a high school student and feel attracted to Buddhism, you imagine a very calm atmosphere, but you have a different impression of yourself.

Originally, I wasn't good at speaking in public.
However, the number of times the puja is repeated, and even though the inside is exciting, people say, “You are very calm.” Even if you're nervous enough to make your memory go blank, you'll get that kind of evaluation.

There are probably various factors such as appearance and tone of voice, but monks who seem to be calm are actually not calm. Also, I don't think there is necessarily a direct connection between being calm and having your life shine.

Even though Hibikukagayaku is young, she has a point of view that reflects on herself as “pathetic and disgraceful.” Please keep holding on to that point of view and keep holding on to what you want to be in your heart. Isn't that the way to get closer to the ideal image?

I hope that someday we will meet each other as aspiring monks.

Hello Hibikukagayaku.
Thank you for your support.

It's great that you're interested in Buddhism.
Buddhism is a teaching that has been thought about the mind for over 2,000 years, based on the teachings preached by the Buddha. The sutras contain the wisdom of the Buddha, which is very deep, even if it does not appear on the surface. I definitely want you to rely on it.

Well, isn't there any anxiety behind Hibikukagayaku not being able to stay calm?
Whether you live with peace of mind or with anxiety has a big impact on your life.

Incidentally, the Jodo Shinshu teaches that people are born in the Pure Land of Paradise when they die due to the salvation of Amida Nyorai. This is the function of Amida Nyorai, which changes death, which is the greatest element of anxiety for humans, into something safe. If you feel safe at the end of your life, even if there are twists and turns in the process, you can live your life with the thought “the end is safe.”

Hibikukagayaku is still in high school, so it might not be possible to be told to look at death. If so, why don't you think ahead for a moment? For example, if you have anxiety before the test, you think that whether your score is good or bad on the test won't mean you will die. In other words, every day is a life experience. Whether there are good things or bad things today, one year from now, I will grow into myself who has gained 365 days' worth of life experience. I know that it will be better in the future, so I can live with peace of mind today.

In terms of Buddhism, there is actually no future. It's imaginary. If I imagine a good future, my heart feels safe now, and if I imagine a bad future, I feel uneasy now. In other words, the future is a component of the present mind. Moreover, Hibikukagayaku is free to decide what they think about the future. In order to live with peace of mind now, it is good to imagine a good future and live.

Did you get the answer?
Thank you very much.

How to stay calm
Hibikukagayaku-sama

Nice to meet you. I read your question.
I've been feeling the same pain for a long time, so I understand how it feels.
For example, when the condition of the car is bad, first stop the car, and then see where things are not going well. Furthermore, in order to solve the cause, it is necessary to know its structure.
First, one of the states of anxiety, impatience, and restlessness is an effect of substances in the brain. According to the latest cerebral anatomy, it has been reported that “reactions such as anxiety and anger end their chemical reactions in 90 seconds.”
The reason why this state is prolonged is that it reacts to the initial reaction again, and then reacts further to that reaction.
However, not responding to the initial reaction is quite unusual. Therefore, elderly people born in the Meiji period often chanted nembutsu and themes in their mouths, and used the method of dissolving various reactions that occur in the mind into that sound and erases them.
And one more thing, that state is that the autonomic nerves are switched on the sympathetic nerve side. The late Dr. Yujiro Ikemi stated that using breathing is very effective when it comes to how to control the autonomic nerves. There is a gentle, simple, and very effective method called “taking a few breaths.”

Finally, I understand that feelings of pity and embarrassment occur in response to such a state, but I recommend that you stay away from that reaction. This is because focusing on that will create an opportunity for the same reaction to occur again.

That's a great request

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

“Since I was born in a temple, I have been fascinated by Buddhism since 2 years ago.” ・・

There is no backlash, and I would like to express my sincere admiration for your wonderful support. I'm looking forward to Hibikukagayaku's future, even though this is excessive.

When I was a junior high school student... I always had stifling feelings like “ah, even if I don't like it, I wonder if I have to go to ascetic training someday” and “I wonder why they were born to the heirs of the temple - they're too unhappy.”

Eventually, under such circumstances, I went on to a university that wasn't Buddhist for the time being, and I was on my way to studying politics and law, but that time has finally come... I really had the worst feelings...

There have been twists and turns since then, but now I'm finally starting to think, “Oh, I'm happy now to be involved in Buddhism,” and “little by little, I'm understanding the reason why I have become a monk in this world.” That too has finally come out recently.

Now, as for the question “how to keep calm” as the main subject, I'm really impressed that they have calmly analyzed themselves enough to detect the content.

In order to maintain “calm,” of course, it is important to adjust the state of mind that is not affected by worries.

and leave the difficult things aside for now...

Anyway, I don't think it's necessary to force yourself to stay calm at this time of year without thinking too much that you have to keep calm.

Studying, club activities, playing, friendships, romance... it's when you're in high school that there are so many things that need to be done in a hurry, and if it's a preparatory school, it's even more so in terms of studying. To be honest, I don't think it's possible to be told to “stay calm.”

However, even among them, it is important to determine the next steps (for example, going to university, etc.) and prepare well. Anyway, I want them to run through this youth to the fullest so that they don't just regret it, even if they don't keep their cool, even if they make mistakes.

It's about looking only at facts and not at brain information.

Humans are flustered by the thoughts in their own heads at Moso.
I think of the worst situation where this might happen as a defensive reaction.
Try going to the tomb in the middle of the night.
If I have a feeling of being scared, it's a thought I drew within myself.
If thoughts are eliminated, tombstones are the only stones.
It is a reality that athletes and martial artists are opposing each other.
You're dealing with something that is moving realistically in reality.
Those who lose out of thought lose.
If you overcome your own thoughts and get along with the facts, even if you lose, you won't lose, and you won't be disturbed.
There is just one thing I would like you to take a closer look at.
When you're in a hurry, when you're being bothered,
I don't like my hectic self, and I feel like I'm trying to get rid of it.
It's good to lose. Tempa is good. It's okay to be bogged down.
First, did you notice that you wear a collar on yourself saying “don't be upset”?
It's about getting rid of it.
Then you have the ultimate self-paced experience.
I can't help but be in a hurry. Once you understand that, you won't be bothered.
In terms of title, even if it's tempo, they don't try to put parentheses back from there and try to lose to their heart's content. If you lose the desire to put on your own parentheses (costume, dramatize, stretch your back, make up your head), your turbulence will go away.
