Why are otaku discriminated against

The other day, my classmate made a statement that discriminated against otaku, so I asked this question.

I'm an otaku myself, and I love anime, manga, and two-dimensional characters.
I also talk about anime with my friends at school.

The problem occurred during that school's lunch break.

An anime song was playing on the school broadcast, and my classmate who was in front of me

“Why are you playing this song? I really don't like it. I don't feel comfortable being an otaku, though.”

I made a statement that discriminated against otaku.
I pretended I didn't know, but in my heart I felt angry and sad.

Recently, otaku culture has also spread to the world, and people around them don't say statements that discriminate much, but there are many sentences that discriminate against otaku on SNS etc.

Certainly, otaku love two dimensions and may be irregular, but even so, they work and study just like normal people.

Will otaku continue to be discriminated against in the future? Is it unavoidable that otaku are discriminated against?

Please let us know what you think.

Isn't that paranoid?

To Kiru-san

I don't understand the definition of an otaku, so I might get out of focus, but...

If you're an otaku who specializes in each field,
If mastering the path is called otaku,
I think it's great to focus on the otaku way.

There are anime otaku and railway otaku around me, and they are all good people, and I sometimes feel envious when I see their shining eyes when they talk about what they are good at (^^)
In my own sense, the reason why I feel like otaku are being discriminated against is probably because there are many people who don't have coordination?

It is unavoidable for each person to show their likes and dislikes in terms of hobbies and preferences.
It's impossible to tell them to like what they don't like, and conversely, dislike what they like.

“Why are you playing this song? I really don't like it. “I don't feel comfortable being an otaku,” I think I just expressed my honest impression because my hobbies didn't match my tastes. Isn't it paranoid to feel that they are being discriminated against?

Men are all the same

It's fine to be an otaku. That's the syntax for suraku... well, isn't it?
I'm sure he doesn't really know the meaning of the word “otaku.” I'm using it as if it were a sloppy image.
The reason you overreact for that reason is probably because you don't have any confidence? If you're a student, it's probably your studies or your girlfriend. I'm immersed in a hobby or something like that, skipping my studies, and I feel like I have a sense of guilt lurking about myself, but can you think of it?

There's nothing as straight forward as a nerd.

I will answer again and again.

Otaku have a world that only otaku can understand. That is an otaku's own identity. You should push forward with confidence.

There are many genres and fields of otaku.
What do they all have in common

“There are unique sensitivities, values, and worlds where people you don't know can enter.”

Otaku wouldn't be possible without it.
However, before they are called otaku, they have a certain amount of knowledge, experience, and investments that people don't understand, so if you think of that as a backstory, I think it's a great accumulation of effort.

There are people of all kinds and ways of thinking in the world, but “I'm not addicted to anything” and “I have this.” There are few people who can say that with all their heart. Maybe that's why they're discriminated against, or rather, distinguished, but they're probably “people who aren't addicted to anything.” If so, “as long as I envy you.” It's a look of envy.

The president of an outdoor goods company called Snowpeak is a “pervert.” As you said, they only think about enjoying camping, and it seems that they have raised the company and all the employees face work every day to see what would make camping fun. There seems to be an awareness that someday, we will go from being “social outsiders and perverts” to “the main part of society.”

Both “perverts” and “otaku” actually have “charisma.”
Also, it is a way of life that only pure and straight people can do.

Please be grateful for good reactions and avoid abusive comments in response to the reactions and discrimination of those around you. I have friends, and I also have family. Everyone is the same. Otaku is a way of life. As long as you don't cause major inconvenience to society or people close to you, I would like to urge you to go straight ahead. Gassho

I'm not being persecuted “because I'm an otaku”

The rhetoric against otaku is severe, but so is the criticism against religion. I can say whatever I want to say that religious people are weak hearted, that they don't feel comfortable, and that temple children born through hereditary succession shouldn't have existed in the first place.

But it's not just about otaku and religion. Politician Gar, Public Servant Gar, White Giant Tower Gar, Industry Person Gar, Social Stock Gar, Neetger Gar, Vested Interest Gar, Venture Gar, Old Man Gar, Recent Youth Gar, Certain Country Gar, Homegrown Gar, Race Gar, Mushroom Gar, Bamboo Gar...

Damn it, people say bad things no matter where they are and what they do. They say bad things even if you haven't done it. Conversely, it is human nature (saga) that neither Acchi nor Kotch can help dissing. In terms of psychology, it's easy to get carried away with this “internal group bias” (internal group bias).

I don't think this alone can explain the reason why wars don't go away to a certain extent. The human mind is not “in the direction of searching for problems,” but it makes sense to move “in the direction of tolerance.” Takeda Shingen said it too. “Mercy is on your side, and revenge is your enemy.”

But that's easier said than done. If we can do that, humanity will annihilate war. Efforts to eliminate it must continue, but persecution will not go away. Everything is painful. So let's get hungry and get around well. If you quit being an otaku, you'll be persecuted in some way.

A dislike heart revolves around the reincarnation of suffering. Even if you dismiss something, reincarnation revolves around. That's why it's foolish to dismiss people who dislike otaku. “Walk alone like a rhinoceros horn”
They don't enjoy being otaku, they don't dissing otaku, they just do the otaku in front of them with all their heart and soul. That's all. That's the middle way. It's a path away from suffering.

Discrimination is unlikely to go away

As long as there is a human weakness, such as grasping the position of the other person and wanting to look down on them, or make a fool of them, eliminating discrimination against anything is probably impossible at first, and it's very lonely.

Now, when it comes to discrimination against otaku, people who criticize and discriminate against such otaku, such as rainbow otaku, aniota, car otaku, etc., are generally “people who don't know it well” and “people who are not interested.”
Since it's a “world I can't understand,” they don't want to acknowledge it and criticize it.

I used to hide it, too, but when I became an adult, it became troublesome to hide it, so I'm already showing it to the fullest.
That's because they're pushing it to the front, hoping to establish a position about the Aniota monk with Hasunoha.
There are a certain number of children who criticize things that are not accepted by any means, and although there are a certain number even when they become adults, the number of people who understand to some extent has increased recently, so please be a little more patient.

For example, recently there aren't many details about areas that are very rotten, such as Osomatsu Cluster or Ichikara, but there are some ways of looking at discrimination against corrupt people
And since Ichikara AV came out, there have also been discriminatory remarks against homosexuals this time, discrimination will not go away, and discrimination continues to be made in minor cultures and minorities, how sad it is, very human beings.
So don't worry too much about being discriminated against as an Aniota now, the world is full of discrimination

Hobbies say you shouldn't cause trouble to people; it's natural for people to be bothered, but in that case, don't say that it's discrimination.
The other day's Thank You Mart incident, don't do that
It's painful for even other excellent otaku in the same genre to suffer damage because of the person who caused the trouble.

Well anyway, I think that by the time you become an adult, the questioner will feel that they are being discriminated against a little less than now, so please bear with it.

It doesn't matter, but I'm surprised that Konosuba is past Dark Horse this season, I avoided light novel anime, but this is super interesting
