Is it possible to change the denomination of my parents' temple

My parents' house is a temple, but I'm the heir.
The sect is the Rinzai sect. I have 2 questions.

① Is it possible to change the sect within the Rinzai sect from the Daitokuji school to the Myoshinji school, Shokokuji school, etc.

② Is it possible to change from Rinzai sect to Soto sect?

Personal beliefs and temple beliefs.

Toru-sama.

Maybe it's not something I, who isn't a Zen monk, should get in the way,
By when do we have to draw a conclusion?

I'll give you things in my own way that you should sort out up to that limit.
If it seems to work, I would appreciate it if you could use it as a reference.

・What is the division between the faith of a monk (individual) and the belief of a temple (religious corporation)?
Is it possible to change the purpose of the corporation at the discretion of the chief priest, or is the consent of the disciples necessary?
Or I think you can probably understand how the Rinzai sect's rules are structured by listening or searching.

In any case, I think it is necessary to report, contact, and consult with people involved in the temple or sect.

・If we need to draw a conclusion quickly, I think there are steps we should check with Motoyama and others and take.
If you have time to make a decision, I don't think it's bad to take a little more time and effort to see if you can find something in Buddhism that dissolves your own obsession without changing denominations.

Please give me a thank you note.
I understand your situation, Mr. Toru. First, I will try to recover my body.
When I think about life and work, it's tough with the current system where the training period is long.
If that is the main complaint, I feel that there are people other than Toru-sama who are troubled by the past.
I don't think it would be a waste to gather information.

Toru-sama.

First, please ask Daitokuji School Motoyama General Affairs, Myoshinji Hayama General Affairs, and Shokokuji Temple Hayama General Affairs.
Furthermore, please contact the head temple of the Soto sect (Sec Office, 2-03-3454-5411, Shiba, Minato-ku, Tokyo).
That's because it's important to follow the steps for everything.

Founder's Thoughts

Toru-sama
Nice to meet you, my name is Tetsuya Urakami from Nagomi-an, thank you for your support.

If you read the lucky fortune of temples, etc., it is sometimes written “It started as the ○○ sect, but was transferred to the □□ sect during the time of the ○○ generation △△ Dharma,” but I don't often hear about sectarian changes in modern times.

I read “Thank You,” and I see, I was convinced that was the case.
Toru is currently in the hospital, and thinking about getting a job after being discharged from the hospital, she is wondering if she can change her denomination.

It may be a bit harsh, but I think each temple has a pioneering thought and a history of continuous spinning. I thought it wouldn't be very good to change denominations due to the secular circumstances of those who would inherit that generation.

I think it's a bit unusual, but I'm currently trying to build my own temple. So if it goes well, it will be a “pioneer,” so I felt something like the above.

Now, here's some realistic advice.
Changing the denomination of a temple is likely to require labor close to building a new temple. First, read every inch of the denomination's rules, and also carefully read the temple rules for your own temple.

I don't think there is anything clearly stated about changing denominations, but it should be written about how to decide important matters.

It seems that a process such as holding a general meeting of the board of directors and a general meeting of parishioners, and after the “proposal” for a sectarian change is passed, an announcement is made to all believers, a general meeting of believers, and obtaining approval from a majority or more is necessary.

This is mainly about administration, and of course negotiations with the head temple of the current sect and the head temple of the sect you want to move to will also be necessary.

First, it's not about changing denominations; why don't you ask Motoyama if there are any ways to balance work and ascetic practices?
I would like to thank you for finding a good method and that you will be safely discharged from the hospital.

It's bothersome.

Changing denominations is bothersome. As much as spending energy there, it may be more effective as a way to use energy if you search for how to treat believers or people with problems.
Eagles go to temples of various denominations every year for training at the Buddhist Missionary Association, and although there are differences in denominations, the destination they end up going to is how they can feel at ease (anjin) for troubled people. I don't feel much of a sectarian difference. So, you may simply be taken advantage of the manners of each denomination.
Nevertheless, if there is a firm will to change denominations, the current Constitution of Japan recognizes freedom of religion. There's no denying that. Feel free to do it at your own risk... That's because there are only a lot of problems at the beginning.

About changing denominations

Toru-sama

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

Questions about changing denominations...

Regarding denomination changes, officially, the two procedures of abolition and commencement of inclusive relationships must be followed, and for abolition, change procedures within the corporation (rule change) and notification to comprehensive religious groups, announcements to stakeholders, certification and registration procedures by the prefecture that is the competent authority, and for commencement, internal corporate change procedures (rule changes) and announcements to stakeholders, approval of comprehensive religious organizations, and certification by the prefecture that is the competent authority, and registration procedures I know it will become.

As an internal change procedure for a corporation, I understand that consent at the responsible board meeting and general meeting/general meeting is necessary. I know that administrative legal procedures can also be left to judicial scriveners, administrative scriveners, etc.

In actual practice, the most difficult problem is that the religious denomination that the believers are used to from generation to generation will also be forced to change, so they are conservative and have strong backlash and resistance, and if secessions occur one after another, of course, it could become a matter of life and death... in view of their various effects, I think that large corporations with many stakeholders, such as believers, will be particularly difficult.

There is an example of Shogenji Temple where Mr. Ryunosuke Koike is the chief priest, even though the sectarian sectarian sectarian sectarian sectarian separation and became an independent temple, and the specific progress has also been disclosed.

Here, too, I can hear that there were various discussions at the general meeting.

Greetings from the inauguration of the new chief priest of “Jodo Shinshu Shogenji”

Also, it was stated in the above address that the resolution at the final general meeting was also by a close margin of “53 to 46,” and it is presumed that resistance and backlash were also strong, and of course there were also people who defected thereafter, but it seems that operations are continuing safely even now.

I know there are various circumstances, but I would be happy if it was a little helpful. Anyway, I pray for your recovery from your illness.
