I want to study Buddhism.

I'm an amateur, but I'd like to learn Buddhism.

If you have any helpful books or websites, etc., could you please tell me?
Incidentally, my family is the Jodo Shinshu sect.

It seems like there are a lot of Buddhist ideas in everyday life.

Thank you for your support.

First, why don't you learn the basics without being bound by denomination

There is nothing but biased knowledge on the internet and in one book.

if If you have a relationship with a monk you trust, it's best to learn directly from that person,
If you don't have that kind of relationship yet,
First of all, if you finish reading the Buddhist Missionary Church's “Buddhist Scriptures” and really want to learn Buddhism
I think it's a good idea to go to the library.

Why don't you read the Chuokoronsha Mahaya Buddhism series or the Taizo Sutra little by little?

If it's called Shindoi, then I think a Buddhist university would be good too.

However, I think it's better to ask people how to learn after trying as much as possible to do what you can.
Otherwise, even if you meet someone who teaches you something important, you won't understand what they are saying, and you won't get the point of listening, and you'll waste the opportunity to get the hang of it.

I recommend that you find the Buddhist sect you want to learn about and search for a temple where you can learn at that denomination's temple.
I think there are many things you can never learn with sentences alone.

Additional note: I went to the library because I wanted to learn Buddhism from a completely ordinary family using the Buddhist scriptures as a trigger. My father's family temple was the Jodo Shinshu sect, and my mother was a Christian Greek Orthodox Christian. I wanted to learn Buddhism myself rather than my family's religion, so I read various books at the library, read books from various denominations, and then chose my own cause and became a monk.

Why don't you learn Masanobu Shoko and Isosho

I want to learn Buddhism
I'm very happy.
By the way, the house is called Jodo Shinshu

Masanobu (a song praising Buddha and virtue written in Chinese by Shinran Shonin) and
About what was written about Shoisho (Shinran Shonin's Sayings and Actions)
Why don't you try learning

Here are some sites related to this sect.

Don't learn Buddhism! I was told

Thank you so much for your wonderful question.
Let me tell you a story about how I was saved.
My mentor taught me, “It's not about studying Buddhism, it's about learning yourself, the Buddha's teachings.”
Even when I was a student, I bought a book on Buddhism and read it, and they say, “This is all a lie.”
“This stuff is useless. If you're going to read it anyway, read a book by someone who has really enlightened it.” That's it.
My mentor is also a person who has seriously studied Buddhism since he was young, sought Buddhism, and practiced Zen as a Zen master.
They were people who seriously sought Buddhism, so they didn't misunderstand the ❝ manabikata ❞ of Buddhism.
Listen to the suggestions and learn from people who have firsthand understood the true teachings of the Buddha. It's no use accumulating knowledge.
They say that in order to get the true teachings of the Buddha, don't learn from a Buddhist guide.
There are many people and Buddhist teachers who talk about Buddhism in this industry.
There are over 10,000 Heart Sutra books.
But my teacher said that since you can't learn any living Buddhism or really useful Buddhism from a Buddhist commentator, you should become a proper master and learn.
For example, Ikegami Akira is a very good talker and his explanations are top notch. But Ikegami is an enlightened person, not a Buddha.
So it's just a guide after all. If you read such a book, I think it will be helpful for studying the external framework of Buddhism.
For example, if you aspire to become soba, no matter how many soba books you read by people who don't make soba, you won't understand the taste, and you won't be able to make your own.
What I want you to keep in mind is that there are many people who are Buddha, wise men, and people who are not Buddha in the sense that they have been freed from their own worries and suffering, no matter how famous they are university professors. It means that no matter how famous the books of such people are, they won't help you in life.
Studying Buddhism is fun. Let's say you've learned 1000 Buddhist books.
But let's say that when a problem actually occurs, your heart is tormented by your own thoughts.
If that's the case, it means I wasn't supposed to study Buddhism.
This is because being saved from suffering, being at ease, and having a heart without problems for the rest of your life is essential to learning Buddhism. I almost took the wrong path, but my teacher told me, “No matter how much I did that, it wouldn't be anything,” so I was able to meet a good Zen master.

“The Eighty-Four Thousand Dharma”

Yuji-sama

This is Kawaguchi Hidetoshi. This is my humble answer to the question.

The desire to learn Buddhism this time is truly appreciated and precious.

“It seems like there are a lot of Buddhist ideas”...

Yes, as one theory says “The Eighty-Four Thousand Dharma,” there are certainly a lot of them.

Question “For some reason I can't decide on one...”
http://blog.livedoor.jp/hasunoha_kawaguchi/archives/1002969128.html

“... Anyway, the Buddha's teachings are said to have been explained with skilful convenience in response to people's hesitation and suffering, as it has been likened to having 84,000 Dharma. If there were exactly 6 billion people, there would be 6 billion ways of lost and suffering, and it would not be strange if there were teachings corresponding to them. Among them, there are teachings that suit Yuji, and there may also be teachings that are not suitable for Yuji, and I think that depending on the time of year, environment, state of mind, progress in learning, etc., there will also be things that fit or are not. Therefore, I think it would be nice to first learn what kind of teachings there are, comprehensively learn the teachings of each religious denomination, and then find teachings that suit you, and I also think it would be good to think about “Buddha relationships” one by one after cherishing them. ・・”

Also, I hope you can refer to the humble answers to the questions below.

Question “How to learn Buddhist thought regardless of denomination”
http://blog.livedoor.jp/hasunoha_kawaguchi/archives/1002944760.html

“... What I referred to by Jusei about literature on learning Buddhism from scratch is the recommended Buddhist book section introduced below. It is classified as suitable for beginners to advanced users, and it was really helpful. ・・”

By all means, let's work hard together to learn and advance Buddhism.
