Is pilgrimage and praying to other denominations an ego

Nice to meet you. This time, I have a problem with Sega demon and memorial services, so I would like to discuss it with you.

My parents' house is the Jodo sect, and my mother's side is the Jodo Shinshu, and I grew up in a family where the Nembutsu of “Namu Amida Buddha” was valued. Currently, I have left my parents' house and am living alone.

A few years ago, there was a temple I started going to after collecting goshuin, and I began to ask for goma, prayers, and even memorial services there. At first, I didn't pay much attention to it, but gradually I began to make pilgrimages and requests to other temples, and since I started making my own family tree, my awareness of my ancestors and life became stronger.

However, in recent years, I began to worry, “Was what I did really right?” I can't get rid of the feeling that I should have lived praising “Namu Amida Buddha” and Nembutsu, and that my ego (self-power and greed) may have grown and joined hands with other temples and Buddhas.

Amidst the conflict between “I think this is my ego” and “was it right to put my hands on other temples and Buddhas,” I feel distressed by blaming myself.

I would be happy if the monks taught me about this state of mind. We look forward to working with you.

If you mentally cornered yourself and suffered, it would be the end of the matter

Nice to meet you. Your own actions are deeply reflected, and the text conveys how you are sincerely facing life and your ancestors.

Since they value “Namu Amida Buddha,” which is the teaching of their parents' house, they strongly blame themselves, saying, “I think visiting and praying to other sects was my own ego.” In conclusion, there is no need to worry so seriously.

The goal of Buddhism is “Satori,” and differences in denominations are like “differences in mountain trails” to get there. In the Jodo Shinshu sect, we do not perform goma prayers or memorial services in order to leave everything to Amida's help, but there is no denying other paths.

What I want you to stop and think about is that Buddhism has the root of “extracting suffering and giving comfort”. If you take the teachings so seriously that you mentally hunt yourself down and suffer, then it is a complete reversal of the truth. First, stop punishing yourself for “being wrong” and let go of the burden on your heart.

The consultant is still in her 20s. The “real ability to act,” where people visited temples in the wake of goshuin and even created their own family tree, is by no means just an ego, but an important experience of searching for one's own roots and way of life.

Instead of trying to force yourself to answer “which teachings are correct” right now, please first look at the reality in front of you of living a healthy daily life. As you live a solid reality while gaining various experiences, you will naturally be able to see the state of mind that is most familiar to you.

Please take good care of your Buddha relationships

I read it.
Thank you for your question.
You're wondering if it's not your ego that you pray at a temple or Buddha of another sect. I don't know the details about you, but I feel like I understand your thoughts very well. I accept your feelings from the bottom of my heart.
There are various encounters and relationships in our lives. Therefore, there is also a connection with shrines and temples.
You've met temples, Buddhas, and gods during various encounters, so please pray with respect and put your hands together.
The Misegakikai is also a good act of offering memorial services to various things, so please feel free to join us and put your hands together with the Buddha and do your work.
Please refer to the explanation below for Misegakikai.

And please continue to do your work every day by saying “Namu Amida Buddha Namu Amidabutsu” and Nembutsu with all your heart.
Amida warmly watches over you anytime, anywhere and in any situation, and is sure to save you. Please don't worry.

I sincerely pray that you will continue to be blessed with a wonderful relationship with the Buddha and be able to live peacefully and peacefully every day, and that you can live the life you have been given due to your faith.

And when you have completed your life, I will always pray to Amida and that many Buddha gods will guide you, and that close people and ancestors who went there will warmly welcome you, and that you will be saved by the Buddha's Pure Land. Shishin Gassho Nanmu Amida Buddha Namu Amidabutsu

Buddha is not that small

Since both God and Buddha think that humans “must be like this,” they become kamisama and botokesama with human rules. That's the ego.
Gods and Buddhas are not small things bound by the rules of the human world.

The thought that the Buddha within humans is probably like this, that no matter where you go, you know “that is the ego” and “this is the ego.” This is a good opportunity to become aware of the ego against Shinto and Buddhism.

There's an old lady in the Soka Gakkai executive class in her hometown.

There was a time when a commercial where Ishihara Satomi was visiting a shrine was made in a commercial for Tokyo Metro, and it seems that members of Soka Gaku at the time were booed quite a bit.
Isn't that a small thing too?
True religion is difficult to do with such an attitude.
This is what the old lady in the executive class said.
“It's fine, Satomi-chan does it at work.” and.
No matter how much you worship God, worship Buddha, worship Nichiren Shonin, or worship Amida, what is your level?
In religion, the gods and Buddhas within humans should be the main character rather than humans playing the leading role, yet it cannot be said that it is a religion if the human ego prevails.
I don't need a true sense of faith, a true sense of religion, an attitude of trying to keep them at bay because they are from another sect?
I don't believe in the Soka Gakkai, the Watchtower, or the Honor Society, but I think it's the same way people are.
Amida, Yakushi, the Jodo sect, the Jodo Shinshu, the west and east all have an undivided heart.
Tulips can be tulips.
Sunflowers are sunflowers.
A dandelion is a dandelion.
Chrysanthemums are chrysan
Lotus is lotus.
A lotus leaf is a lotus leaf.
Lotus root is lotus root.

There is nothing right or wrong about everyone living in the present and that way anytime, anywhere.
That is Buddhism.

Namu Amida Buddha.
Namu Myōhō Renge Kyō.
Namu Shakamuni Buddha.
Nanmukiyi Sanpo.

Let's leave it to the Buddha's will (guidance) without taking it as ego.

You've been blessed with a variety of relationships, and they are coming here with enthusiasm, aren't you? Thanks to that, you've become more aware of your ancestors and life. It's precious, isn't it?

The teachings of our ancestors are also guidance, and you are free to believe in your own right. If you want to do a memorial service with homage or prayers, I think it would be nice if you cherish those feelings too. Faith is the foundation of one's own life, and since it is something that one seeks questions and hopes for future generations, it is good if they proceed with the Buddhism of what suits them, what they feel safe about, and what they can practice.

Let's not take it as ego and leave it up to the Buddha's will (guidance).

“Subsidies” in the Jodo sect

What is important in the Jodo sect is to believe that people can pass away with only nembutsu.
Good deeds and ascetic practices other than nembutsu are precious, and their merits will make you realize (attain Buddhism) faster after being born in the Pure Land of Paradise.
However, in order to pass away in the Pure Land of Paradise, it is important to believe that such good deeds and ascetic practices are not essential.
Worshiping Buddhas and Bodhisattvas other than Amitabha is also a good act and has merit.
Precepts (moral life), meditation (practice of concentrating the mind), and wisdom (the practice of observing phenomena and understanding the truth) are also precious ascetic practices.
Therefore, it is an honor to do them in this world.
However, whether it is a good person who does it or a sinful bad person, both can pass away with Nembutsu alone.
On the other hand, if those good deeds trigger you to remember Nembutsu and are an encouragement for Nembutsu, then those good deeds will be the “aid (jōgō)” of Nembutsu.
There is no need to help the power of nembutsu (the original power of Amitabha Buddha), but it is “aid” that helps us to be able to do nembutsu.
So, when I worshiped various gods and Buddhas
“Namu Amida Buddha”
If you remember, that would also be a “aid.”
