Third year of college, I don't know what I need to do

I'm currently in my 3rd year of college and have recently started job hunting. But I haven't been able to get serious about it yet.

There are publishing and TV stations as industries I'm interested in, but it's not clear whether it's something I really want to do or what I want to do there. Also, I'm wondering if it's OK to apply just by saying “I like books and dramas a little bit,” or whether they can't beat people who have stronger feelings or knowledge, and whether they choose only glamorous images.

Looking around, I feel that each of them is steadily moving forward with what they want to do, future goals, and job hunting axes, such as studying abroad, aiming to go on to graduate school, and putting effort into job hunting. In response to that, I spend every day running away from job hunting without having a clear purpose.

As for studying abroad, I'm also interested in living abroad, but that doesn't mean “there is something I really want to study,” and it makes me wonder if I need to spend money or time going until this time of year.

While I feel envious when I see people working towards what I want to do, I blame myself for not being able to do it because I haven't done anything until now, or because I'm lazy.
I feel that “not being able to find what I want to do” and “not having an experience where I can confidently appeal” when writing an entry sheet have also led to denial of my past self. My past self should have been working hard in my own way from time to time, but that doesn't seem to be connected to who I am now or my future, and I almost deny myself, saying, “What have I been up to now?”

Right now, I'm worried about not being able to find what I want to do in the future and “not knowing what I want to do, I can't decide anything, and I'm stuck.”

Why don't you start with the task of objectively looking back at your feet

My friends around me seem to be moving forward steadily, and I feel like I've been left behind when I'm standing still. I can painfully understand the feeling of anxiety and impatience. However, in Buddhism, there is the term “cherry plum tori (obai tori).” Cherry blossoms have the beauty of cherry blossoms, and plums are beautiful, and they all bloom in different seasons and ways. There's nothing good about belittling yourself compared to others. Think of it as a coincidence that now is the time for your flowers to quietly “take root” in the soil before they bloom.

It is said that they are likely to deny their past self by saying, “What have you been up to now,” but please direct more “mercy” towards yourself. You in the past must have definitely lived hard in the circumstances from time to time. It wasn't that I was lazy. First, let's gently affirm for yourself the steps you have taken so far.

Having a longing for popular industries such as publishing and TV stations is wonderful, but as Zen teachings say “foot care (take a close look at your feet),” it is important to first know your “characteristics” and “aptitudes.” Why don't you put the feeling of impatience to the side and start with the task of objectively looking back at your own feet, such as taking SPI3 and occupational aptitude tests at Hello Work, or consulting with the university's employment department? It might seem like a detour, but it's definitely a step forward.

Job hunting isn't the goal of getting a job; it's the beginning of a long life after that. If you choose an unwilling path in a hurry, your work won't last long. There may be anxiety about not being able to see the future, but don't be impatient right now, and work steadily on what is in front of you, one step at a time. If you do that, you will surely end up with a “relationship” that suits you.

Don't panic, it's about to come

I read it.
I read that you are very worried because you don't know what to do in the future. I don't know the details about you, but I can tell you that you are very worried and lost. I understand your feelings from the bottom of my heart.
If you look around you, they're all working hard for what they want to do and what they want to do. Under such circumstances, I don't know what I want to do, what direction I should go, or where I should work. I think it's natural for you to think so. That's because humans don't know how to do it so easily.
Maybe you're in a hurry to compare yourself to the people around you, but please don't be in a hurry.
Stay calm and face your future firmly.
You don't have to know what you want to do right now. Please don't be in a hurry and take your time to consider it. Your future is about to expand. You have limitless options.
I sincerely pray that you will face the future firmly without being in a hurry, think and consider your own choices, and that the future you are aiming for will open up, so that you can walk the path you aspire to in a steady and calm manner, and live a fulfilling life every day. And I will support you from the bottom of my heart. We wholeheartedly agree

The viewpoint of “what you want to do” is also more important than “what you should do”

Hasuhasu-sama
Nice to meet you. Thank you so much for your job hunting.
The hot season is also tough, isn't it?
Even so, I looked at myself and thought they were doing their best. After reading it, I wonder if my sense of self-affirmation has declined slightly now? I thought so. If you just compare it to your surroundings, that's what happens, isn't it?
Counseling and creating job cards are an effective way to raise your sense of self-affirmation.
I've also created job cards, and I was able to look back on the past and take stock of such things, this kind of thing, and I did my best. (I will review the job card I created with my career consultant)
Are you currently using the Career Center?
If you don't have much compatibility with a college career consultant, or if you feel that it's hard to talk, there is also a “New Graduate Support Hello Work” in each prefecture as a second opinion, so it might be a good idea to try using it when necessary. You can also take aptitude tests and interest tests.
Once you get a job, you'll need even more communication skills than you do now, so I think building a solid relationship of trust with a career consultant and having discussions in three is also an important step.
Also, it is important to visit OBs and OGs in the industry and gather information about things you don't understand.
Also, since there are countless types of jobs in the world, I recommend searching for “job tags.”

You won't get depressed compared to those around you.
If your sense of self-affirmation increases, your motivation will also come out. Let's put a little brake on our impatience, look around from a slightly higher perspective, and look at ourselves. Talking to Hasunoha is also a great ability to act ◎
Cicada Shigure, fireworks, shaved ice, yukata, morning glory...
Looking back for a moment on the summer that had been put on the back burner,
It's not too late to start again.
If it's Hasu, I'm sure it's fine!
If you feel a wall again, remember Hasunoha and use it. I will continue to support you.

Even if you can't decide, don't miss out on interests and opportunities. Let's reach out.

It's job hunting time, isn't it? When things are going smoothly, you get impatient, don't you think?
However, when you think about how many people are moving forward with clear goals, I don't think there are that many. I think there are many people who are moving towards drawing things in a blink of an eye, even if they don't know what they want to do.

Once you get a job, you'll be prepared to do your best here, and I think you'll be able to see your goals. In my experience, as soon as I was entrusted with a position, my colleagues became motivated to be recognized, found their work rewarding, and now they are even in a position to coach staff. I'm retired, but she's still active. I respect him and he is someone I admire.

It's not always possible for people to find a job they want to do or a job that suits them right from the beginning. Even so, once you get used to that environment and find fun and rewarding, it becomes a new purpose or goal.

Even if you can't decide, don't miss out on interests and opportunities. Why don't you reach out? There are professionals who excel at every job. Why don't you get good stimulation from people and environments like that?
