Reflections from Japan's Buddhist Traditions

Aiming to become a monk

Hello. I'm a college student who is on leave of absence due to a mental illness. I came across Zen while fighting an illness, and I am encouraged every day. I think there are many people in the world who are struggling or trying too hard and their hearts are exhausted. I hope all of you...

Why do people hate excuses?

I'm indebted to you. This is Shibata Aki. Apparently, excuses are sometimes frowned upon. I think it would help improve. Since I joined the company, I have been taught how to solve certain problems. It's about teams classifying causes by factors (human, environmental, time, etc.) and...

Do you want to protect your husband?

I had a chance to talk to my husband's parents about my Morahara DV husband, so I tried talking about painful things while shedding tears while mixing the evidence. Then my husband's father was shocked. Because I thought my husband and wife were on good terms.. Morahara DV talked about how I...

Preparation and exhaustion until the wake and funeral

My grandmother passed away, and it was said that she was close to old age, so I was prepared and wrote various thoughts in my notebook early, so I didn't panic, but since my parents were chased to prepare for the wake and funeral, and since it's in the countryside, my acquaintances and relatives...

Should I quit my job or keep going

This is my fourth year as a high school graduate and working adult. I graduated from technical high school and got a job at my current company. At first, it was the manufacturing department, but no matter how many times I was told, mistakes were repeated, breaking parts, causing trouble to...

What is a separation fee

My wife's parents' house died out, and since it's far away, I consulted with the chief priest about finishing my parents-in-law's graves and moving them to a nearby ossuary, and they asked me to pay 3 million yen other than the cost of removing the tomb. I was worried, and when I consulted with a...

What does seeking happiness mean?

I know you're busy, but I'd like to ask you a question. I often hear the words “know enough” and “cherish the happiness we have now.” I think it's a very good way of thinking, but on the other hand, it makes me wonder if “being satisfied with the happiness you have now = don't seek any more...

Nice to meet you.

Hello. Congratulations on the new year. It's early in the new year, and I made a mistake on Twitter the other day. That is, when I found a friend's account and asked to follow me, it wasn't a direct message, and although it wasn't my full name, I gave the name “○○-san, please follow me.” Soon...

I'm wondering if I should keep dating my lover

I am constantly distrusted by her because of lies I told in the past. (Not an affair, related to my friendship) I apologized because I thought it was bad that I told a lie. Since then, I've told a lie and never done anything, but I've been strongly requested to do anything, and in particular,...

It's painful

Hello, I'm a nursing facility nurse who is currently on leave of absence due to customer harassment. Actually, there are residents who have quite a few problems, and they don't have dementia, have had their leg amputated due to diabetes, and they have come all the way from the south of the...

Looking back at the words of those who have died

Recently, I learned about a creator who died of cancer when she was still around 30 years old. SNS was updated until a few days before his death, and there are also posts that make you feel that the end is near. When I read that post, I felt like there was no relief, and at the same time I...

ideals

Customers say you should die, you can get fired. The data on the computer is erased by the person in the seat next to you. Emails can also be sent without permission. Since it's a temporary assignment, our company will kindly say... that's what they say. I want to die. I want to die of...

Buddhism and women

I have been suffering very much for many years, so I want you to tell me. It doesn't seem like Japanese women are inherently disobedient to the precepts of Buddhism. Of course, I feel that there are excellent women, but I feel this nature in many women. Women feel that they see Buddhism below...

Actually today is my birthday

I celebrated my birthday today. Everyone is at work tomorrow, so they're probably sleeping, and I haven't received any congratulatory messages from anyone other than my family and my friend who was on the phone before the date was over. After the date changed and I finished the phone call...

Second year middle school daughter who feels like she is truant

My daughter is in the 2nd grade of middle school. I took a short break from the 1st semester, entered the 2nd semester, and the number of days to take a short break has increased, and now I have been taking a break for about 2 weeks. Even when I asked the person why they didn't want to go, they...

I want to change myself

I can't think of “people as people, I am myself,” and I'm just jealous of people's success. I know in my head that life is much easier when I think of myself, yet the grass next door looks blue no matter what, I feel excessive about the words and gaze of others, and I'm hurting myself without...

Gift during birth

My parents were so-called toxic parents, and they favored my older brother, and I grew up fond of not being treated as a human being. I'll never forgive what my parents and older brother did. Her parents divorced over 20 years ago. At that time, my brother and father got into trouble, and a...

I hit the cat and killed it

I was bitten by my pet cat, so I hit him several times, and when I took my eyes off him, he felt limp and just died. I didn't mean to kill him. I wish I had died in his place. I can't stop crying. I'm not worth living. I can't eat, and I don't get much sleep. Even so, it makes me want to keep...
